@dstaples He’s been gone from the game too long. Yes won a cup way back in 2008 with a team constructed with high defensive competency players. There’s no one on our roster like a 2008 Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Cleary, Holmstrom, Draper, Maltby, Drake, Lidstrom, Chelios then add Osgood/Hasek

@dstaples I say McLeod as offence is not a number one need, and playoffs are big boy hockey. We only have so much room for small players (Savoie, Howard, Huston). Our roster cannot take all. We already play on the outside too much and loose too many puck battles.

@KevinMcCurdy @builder56207 I was in the Pro-Nurse camp, but 5 consecutive playoffs of him being an absolutely liability I have come to the realization, there is no path to a cup with him. He has yet to prop up a partner. He is only as good as his partner can cover for him.

@KevinMcCurdy @qauckenbush17 Agreed. It had years before, and not since that we had a player that truly intimated others with the an ability to score a goal once in a while. The slashes and cross
checks 29 and 97 are now subjected too without his presence is such a bad look. Thank heaven for Pods.

@KevinMcCurdy @qauckenbush17 Last Vancouver had what was almost a historically bad year. No player can be judged by their stats last year on Vancouver. Canucks were grotesquely poor. For Perry like numbers, I’d give Kane a shot again.

Also re: the remaining teams, giveaway stretch pass attempts are minimum, rather controlled safe breakouts (no turnovers with 2 fwds caught high) are the norm.

@TheCultofHockey @edmontonjournal I think this type of talk is purposely created from the eastern media pundits or fans to distract from the fact Mathews is no doubt leaving the Leafs this summer and Toronto’s blunder all these years is a nightmare for many having never gotten past rnd 2 in the past 24 yrs.
