@APRA_Indiana@SteveTrautman1@HelenKsiazek I keep a list of all data fields in the system on a spreadsheet and keep a date of when I last thought about them and did any kind of cleanup on the field. So that would be the time to review missing data and opportunities like missing DEI info! #ApraEmbracesDiversity
@APRA_Indiana The opposite of what I’m doing? LOL! It’s tough, I think regularly developing ways to audit data to keep up with the times. That is something measurable #ApraEmbracesDiversity
@APRA_Indiana As I’m looking through my database I notice that the available fields for recording DEI data is very generic and not up to date with the times. Like you can only be make or female…not good #ApraEmbracesDiversity
@APRA_Indiana We have a couple initiatives right now- we have started a new giving circle and also focusing more on some key populations in Indy, but we try to send correspondence out to everyone not just these groups to stay inclusive #ApraEmbracesDiversity
@APRA_Indiana We talk about this regularly in our data governance committee at Marian- how we want to be careful about what DEI info to collect. For instance we are Catholic college, but should collecting religion matter to us? We would want to embrace anyone regardless #ApraEmbracesDiversity
@APRA_Indiana You know, we actually don’t have resources other than self-identifying. At my previous position we discouraged people from making assumptions #ApraEmbracesDiversity
@APRA_Indiana What a tricky slope. I use this data to gain insights like a donor persona or if there is a specific initiative (like a women’s giving circle), maybe even age for retirement, bit it’s important not to make assumptions with all data based on stereotype #ApraEmbracesDiversity
