We built sBTC Pay so anyone can get paid in sBTC or STX with one link.
Now we want to hear from the people using it: what works, what's missing, what you'd build with it.
2 minutes, and it genuinely shapes what we ship next

Self-custodial Bitcoin staking is live on @Stacks , so your BTC can earn without leaving your keys. Getting paid should work the same way. With sBTC Pay, every payment lands straight in the merchant's wallet and we never hold it.

This is what getting paid as a freelancer should feel like. No signing up somewhere, no waiting for approval, no platform sitting on your money. You send an sBTC Pay link, your client pays from their own wallet, and it's already in yours.

Earn, borrow and transact. Bitcoin staking is taking care of the first one. We're building the third: invoices, subscriptions and a pay button that settle sBTC wallet to wallet, with nobody holding the money in between.
1/ On stage at TOKEN2049, Stacks founder and Stacks Labs CEO @muneeb laid out his vision for Stacks through 2030.
The goal is to make Stacks the default place for BTC to earn, borrow and transact privately, all settled to Bitcoin.
Enter: Satoshi Upgrades. Full version below π
sBTC holders are at an all-time high, and Bitcoin on Stacks now earns 3% paid in BTC. We work on the everyday part: getting paid in that sBTC, straight into your own wallet, from an invoice link or a pay button on your site.
- STX staked +25% since PoX-5
- >750 BTC bonded in 2 cycles
- 1K+ BTC supplied on Zest
- DEX volume at yearly highs
- sBTC holders at ATH
- Network revenue at yearly high
- 21Shares, HashKey Cloud & UTXO Management in the first institutional BTC staking product with BTC yield
Two tags and your site takes sBTC.

The amount is in sats, and payments land in the wallet you put there.

We built sBTC Pay for both sBTC and STX on @Stacks, but most payments so far have actually been in STX. Maybe people are just spending whatever they already have in their wallet. If you hold sBTC but rarely spend it, what's stopping you?
What a week on sBTC Pay looks like for a small studio: an invoice, a monthly plan, a deposit, sales from its own site, a refund, and a customer renewing on their own.
Every payment goes straight to the merchant's wallet.
Getting paid online is still weird. You sign up, wait for approval, connect a bank, and your money still sits with the platform until it pays you out.
sBTC Pay is the non-weird version. You send a link, they pay from their wallet, and it lands in yours.

15 merchants have signed up for sBTC Pay since we went live on mainnet, and they've been getting paid straight into their own wallets the whole time. We've never held a single payment, which was the whole point of building it this way.

What would you like to see us build next in sBTC Pay? We're building in public, so if there's something you'd like to see, let us know. Your feedback helps us decide what to work on next.
Imagine finishing a project.
Instead of asking for bank details...
You create an invoice.
Share the link.
They pay.
Done.
That's the workflow we built with sBTC Pay.
Bitcoin-native. No middlemen. No back-and-forth.
One thing we intentionally didn't build into sBTC Pay:
A custodial wallet.
We never wanted your payments sitting on our servers.
Direct settlement wasn't the easy option.
It was the right one.
One feature that took way longer than expected?
Refunds.
Making them simple for users while keeping everything on-chain wasn't as straightforward as it looked.
Worth it; merchants get clean, trustless refund flows without giving up custody.
One of the best parts of building sBTC Pay:
watching the first real payment land.
not a testnet tx.
not a demo click.
an actual person, paying an actual business, in sBTC or STX.
That's the whole reason to build this.
We didn't build sBTC Pay because Bitcoin needed another payment app.
We built it because accepting Bitcoin still feels harder than it should.
Create invoice.
Share link.
Get paid.
That was the goal from day one.
This Wednesday we'll be joining the @StacksEndowment X Space to talk about sBTC Pay.
We'll share what's live on mainnet, what we've learned so far, and what's next.
If you're building on Stacks or curious about Bitcoin payments, come join us.
