Since 2020, we've been rescuing abused, abandoned, neglected, and forgotten animals across Pakistan.

From emergency rescues and our no-kill sanctuary to TNVR, humane education, and our **Second Chance for Working Donkeys** project, we are working to create a future where animals are treated with compassion, not cruelty.

Our team has just rescued this little donkey from his owner.

The owner told us that after he was born, he was separated from his mother and brought home. Since then, he has spent his life tied with a rope inside a small room, while his mother was kept elsewhere and continued working.

The owner also told us he is one year old, but to us he looks much younger.

His all feet especially front feet don't look right, and we don't yet know why. Tomorrow our veterinary team will carry out a full examination, including X-rays if needed, to understand exactly what's happening.

Our team is bringing him safely back to TAWF now.

We'll share a full update as soon as we know more.

Last night, Harbor finally made it home... to TAWF. 💔

First of all, thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every single person who helped bring Harbor to safety. Because of your kindness, he did not have to spend his final hours alone on the roadside.

When Harbor arrived, our team immediately began emergency treatment and gave him pain relief. We fought for him through the night, but despite every effort, we couldn't save him.

The reporter who contacted us believed Harbor had been hit by a vehicle the previous day. But when he reached us, he already had pressure sores developing on his face and body from lying in the same position for so long. The truth is, we may never know how many days he had actually been there.

Harbor was also blind. He couldn't see the traffic around him. He couldn't see the people passing by. He couldn't even understand what had happened to him.

If we hadn't rescued him, another vehicle could easily have struck him again as he lay helpless on the road.

Although we couldn't save Harbor's life, we did save him from a lonely, frightening death beside the roadside.

He left this world with gentle hands holding him, pain relief easing his suffering, and people who truly cared for him.

Run free, Harbor. You mattered. You were loved. And you will never be forgotten. ❤️

Polar and Coal arrived at our sanctuary together.

Coal is now safe.

But Polar's future is still uncertain.

His owner is asking for him back, and we desperately want to keep Polar at our sanctuary for the rest of his life through TAWF's Second Chance for Working Donkeys project.

Even if his wounds heal, his damaged skin will never be the same. If he returns to pulling a cart, the constant rubbing of the harness will almost certainly reopen his wounds, and his suffering will begin all over again.

We did everything we could for Chandni. We wanted to keep her at our sanctuary, but with a heavy heart, we had to let her return to her owner. Today, we are doing everything we can for Polar. Treating him is our responsibility, and we will always do our very best.

But replacing a donkey cart with a motor rickshaw, retiring a working donkey for life, and providing lifelong sanctuary is something we simply cannot do alone.

We are already struggling every day just to provide food, medical care, and shelter for the hundreds of rescued animals already in our care.

This project can only succeed if compassionate people stand beside us.

If enough people each contribute a little, together we can change Polar's life forever. We can give his owner a better way to earn a living while giving Polar the peaceful retirement he deserves.

This isn't something we can do alone.

It is something all of us can achieve together. ❤️

People often ask why we travel hundreds of miles to rescue donkeys when we already know they may never recover.

The answer is simple.

Because if we don't go, their death is often far more cruel than most people can imagine.

Just the night before last, one of the female donkeys we rescued from more then 500 kilometres away,had been lying beside the road for three days.

The man who reported her passed her on his way to work and thought she was already dead. The next day he passed again. She was still lying in exactly the same place, so again he believed she was a dead body.

On the third day, he noticed the slightest movement of her head.

He stopped... and realised she was still alive.

Her injured leg had been wrapped with strips of cloth, showing that someone had tried to treat her first. When they realised she wasn't getting better, they abandoned her alive beside the road, knowing she couldn't stand, couldn't find food and couldn't even reach water.

That is why we went for her immediately.

Maybe we can't save every animal...

...but we can save them from a long, lonely and terrifying death.

And this was only one of the donkeys that arrived during the last 36 hours.

Another female very old donkey, Dora, arrived with a large abdominal hernia, severe maggot wounds and many other injuries.

Another donkey arrived with a badly broken leg that had become rotten after unsuccessful home remedies.

Another arrived with a cracked shoulder.

These are only the rescues in last 36 hours you haven't even seen yet.

We simply cannot post every transport or every emergency. If we did, our page would become nothing but rescue appeals, and people would understandably feel overwhelmed.

The reality is that we quietly carry out these rescues every week, even when we know the outcome is uncertain.

Kind-hearted supporters like you make it possible for us to keep saying "yes" when these forgotten animals have nobody else left.

❤️ RESCUE UPDATE ❤️

Since yesterday, he had been lying beside the road in unbearable pain.

He desperately tried to lower his head, just to find a moment of comfort, but he couldn't. Watching him struggle for something so simple broke my heart.

Today, because of your kindness, he is finally on his way to TAWF.

Our wonderful volunteers and the truck driver made sure he was lying comfortably on a bed of hay for the long journey. They covered the truck to protect him from the monsoon rain while leaving the sides open so fresh air could reach him throughout the journey.

Before setting off, the driver promised us he would stop to buy fresh green fodder for him... and he did. He also made sure he was offered water, and our volunteers arranged first aid and pain relief to make this long journey a little more comfortable.

He is expected to arrive at TAWF at around **3–4 a.m. tomorrow morning.**

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has already helped make this rescue possible. ❤️

💔 Last night, two equines arrived at TAWF from different cities.

One reached us after a 7-hour journey, the other after a 4-hour journey. Both arrived around midnight, exhausted and in desperate need of help.

Sadly, despite every effort, we could not save one of them. I will share that heartbreaking story very soon.

This is Dora.

Dora is an elderly female donkey, estimated to be over 20 years old. She arrived with a large abdominal hernia, a maggot-infested infected wound on her front leg, multiple wounds across her body, and was painfully thin. Her teeth are so overgrown that much of her food falls back out of her mouth when she tries to eat.

After a lifetime of suffering, Dora is finally safe.

Our veterinary team has already started her treatment, and we will do everything we can to relieve her pain and give her the love, care and dignity she has always deserved.
