I'm always scared to speak on Roman history here tbh despite like unfortunately being fixated on like very late Republic and early Empire history cause I'm terrified of misunderstanding something or getting something wrong but I see that Roman helmet guy and I feel like a genius
I'm dying over here and if I see another person say just get ac I will lose it it costs like £250 for like basic plug in but like most people don't even have that amount including me in disposable income if you want proper full house or apartment its over £1000
now I am by no means an expert so someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen any evidence myself that he actually hated the gods like maybe I'm dumb or misunderstanding but like I'm pretty sure he just hated authority in general
as far I know Ovid didn't hate the gods moreso just Augustus and some of the stories lime the medusa one in Metamorphoses is reflection of that he does seemingly praise Augustus in book 15 like he was probs being sarcastic there
I am quite Nero especially because like generally the common people liked him a lot but like the Senate and aristocratic ppl hated him lol like what abt the Nero revival legends lol
also as far as I know none of the actors in these pictures are Greek I don't like how movies like this get made and usually include like no actual Greeks but the reason you care about this is literally just because Helen is black which is stupid and racist
the way helenus has been portrayed in the modern retellings I've read so far have been awful like he's just a loser coward faker who just steals Cassandra's prophecies which as I've said before is lazy in this essay I will—
helenus could be a really interesting character for like a retelling to include cause like u could explore him "betraying" Troy after being tortured by Odysseus his feelings and he could blame himself even though it's not rlly his fault
also like in some versions helenus leaves for mount Ida because he doesn't like how his family acts like for example Paris shooting Achilles in the temple is one reason why he leaves in some version...so like he leaves on a bad note and then has like this crazy guilt idk
