@CourtneySeals9 I totally agree with this! RAFT writing is great because you can integrate it so easily into other content areas. In my Kindergarten placement, they get most of their science and social studies education through the integration of those content areas into ELA and math.
@RosritaM I totally agree! RAFT writing should be used more often because it does allow for students to step out of their comfort zones. Being able to see different point of views is so important in learning!
@SantiagoYolanie I do think this is super important! We can check for student understanding in many different ways, and not just through paper tests. I think that is a very great point to highlight!
@aubrey_ksu I loved the "Tell Abouts" as well! I have not seen something like this used in the classroom during my field experience, but I think it is great! I can't wait to implement something like this in my classroom.
Reading, "Checking for Understanding Digitally During Content Area Learning" gave me some good assessment ideas to use in my future classroom! #booksnapweek2#KSUECE4410
@kellysnow_ksu Hi Kelly! I agree with you! I do think that it is crucial to incorporate other subject areas in reading/ELA. I noticed in earlier grades that teachers do this by reading stories that talk about science subjects or social studies topics. I think this is so important!
@MsWrightTeach Hi Madalyn! This passage stood out to me as well. I think allowing students to wonder and use inquiry keeps them motivated and interested in what they are learning about!
Loved reading this article, "Rethinking Text Sets to
Support Knowledge Building and Interdisciplinary Learning"! This passage really stood out to me! #Booksnapweek1#KSUECE4410
