🇰🇷While the BTS concert was underway in Gwanghwamun, firefighters were busy searching for missing people after a deadly fire in Daejeon, about two hours from Seoul.

The blaze broke out on March 20, 2026, at an auto-parts manufacturing plant in Daejeon, South Korea, leaving 14 people dead and 60 injured (25 seriously), for a total of 74 casualties.

The fire was fully extinguished after about 10 hours and 30 minutes, but recovery operations to retrieve the victims’ bodies are still ongoing.

Around 46–70 fire vehicles and up to 240 firefighters were deployed, including unmanned firefighting robots and large-capacity water cannon systems.

The incident sparked controversy after reports that about 800 firefighters were deployed to BTS’s Gwanghwamun concert at the same time.
