This is Ronald McNair, who died during the space shuttle Challenger explosion. In 1959, he was denied checking out books in a segregated South Carolina Library. He later became one of the first Black NASA astronauts in history.

Today, that same library was named in his honor.

The dog who was chained to a fence during a Florida hurricane has inspired a new law that protects pets during natural disasters. This is Trooper. Last October, he was rescued from knee-deep water during Hurricane Milton in Florida. He had been tied to a fence post and abandoned by his previous owners. His harrowing story went on to inspire Florida's new "Trooper's Law." It is now a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, to restrain and abandon pets during a declared natural disaster. Fortunately, Trooper has since found a loving family to call his own, and his legacy is helping to prevent other dogs from facing the same abuse he experienced. 14/10
