How long is the stench of the “sham” going to corrode the meaning, worth, and very essence of the Premier League?
Listening to commentary about Manchester City’s players matching the defiance of their ownership and triumphing in adversity.
Listening to fans chorusing the names of the men running the club, wearing masks or displaying banners of their faces and jibing: “We’re Man City, we’ll cheat when we want.”
Victory being framed as “a lovely moment,” a show of togetherness as though some grave injustice has been imposed on City, rather than their hierarchy being found by an independent commission to have orchestrated financial doping on an industrial scale.
Their opponents and the rest of us wondering if any of this actually matters now and how much of it ever did?
There can be no business as usual pretence. We need a full stop to the absurdity.
When you see Erling Haaland scoring and the City fans celebrating as if the club has been persecuted and not been found to be the biggest cheats in football history, you understand why everything that now happens - a continued product of the cheating - badly stains the league
Realistically Carrick will be gone pretty soon, but Berarda and Wilcox should be following him out of the door.
They’ve got every big call wrong, it would be negligence to keep them in their jobs.
Update: Thousands have gathered here on the Garvaghy Road in Portadown to show support to residents who blocked an Orange Order parade almost a week ago.
First Minister Michelle O'Neill was amongst those who gave speeches today @BelTel
It took City cooking the books by £900m and the Glazers loading United with a billion in debt for them to knock us off our perch.
That’s how small they actually are.
It’s wild, it’s genuinely the biggest scandal in the history of football and maybe even sport overall.
Nothing they did since 2008 counts for anything. Nothing they achieved means anything.
It's official. The statement released today by the Premier League ultimately confirms, unequivocally, the truth of everything that was revealed through Football Leaks. The Independent Commission is also particularly harsh in the way it characterises the actions taken by Manchester City executives, who, without a shadow of a doubt, acted with complete impunity, challenging everyone and everything. From the very beginning, they have demonstrated a complete lack of respect for the rules, for the bodies responsible for overseeing and regulating the game, for the integrity of the competition, for the other clubs and, above all, for the fans.
Years and years of cheating, lying and manipulation will finally have consequences.
It’s a travesty this has been allowed to happen. 99% of football clubs would never recover from this, some would already be done and with every passing season, even the biggest club in the country seem more and more unlikely to be in the 1%.
We’ve had Munich and the Glazers.
PlayStation in 2026:
- End Destiny
- End physical gaming forever
- End porting exclusives to PC
- Completely lose Hideo Kojima
- Attempt to cancel Kojima's next Metal Gear franchise
- Kojima cuts ties entirely and goes to XBOX
- Force your single-player studios to make live service games
- Concord happens
- Proceed to cancel most of them, losing years of development time and billions of dollars
- Buy Bluepoint and have them make a live-service rather than remakes
- Close Bluepoint down before they release any games
- Start selling vertical stands separately rather than have them come with the console
- Console prices at an all-time high
Genuinely... what is going on at Sony. disaster after disaster, huge L after L. They were my favorite gaming company throughout the PS4 generation but genuinely, how do you lose EVERYONE this fast? Meanwhile, XBOX is taking full advantage of this and priming a major comeback next generation. A literal generational fumble happening at Sony.
Glad to see Bruno Fernandes rightfully recognised as the best player in the league last season
He deserves every bit of it and anyone who says otherwise is blinded by their rivalry and hatred of United, nothing else can explain it
Magnifico
There is something deeply funny about billionaires convincing a man making $52,000 a year that the greatest threat to his freedom is another worker making $14 an hour who speaks Spanish.
