Sportingintelligence: A perpetually sceptical attempt to make sense of sport's relationship with money. Interested in conmen & numbers. Reassuringly grumpy.
Stefan's own view (in private, which he won't ever air in public) is MCFC always asked Abu Dhabi for cash and then tried to make it look legit after the fact. So nothing to see here? I'll look forward to him addressing this on his next TalkSport appearance.
See the timeline of MCFC’s arch propagandist, @slbsn, to see how triggered that faction of the City support have become. Any neutral would be questioning why this is taking so long as opposed to attacking anyone asking why it’s taking so long.
The YouTube version of a pod I recorded 2 wks ago with @DuncanCastles about MCFC case. I was "on holiday" in Cornwall at the time. Hugely gratified about the positive feedback. And if you want somewhere gorgeous to go in Cornwall, go to Watergate Bay.

I wanted to write a 1,500-word piece about oligarchs, foreign money and how English football was changing. My editor wanted 200 words until I told him there was a lingerie model in the story.
@pepsi_v1@RealChrisWood Tonda is over-thinking. We need Larin back to his best and sharpish. But 7 points from 9 and three straight clean sheets is decent.
Weekend No750 of waking up to Man City fans hurling abuse, often mild like this from @realchriswood, who doesn’t follow me, never reads my work, but has decided journalism is rage bait because … his football team. Have a lovely Sunday, Chris.
@StanisElsborg@sportingintel You again. Abuse is not great especially personal ones. I read his articles and wonder why he calls himself a journalist. Not proper or excellent it’s poor, driven by obsession and full of bias, he uses rage for clicks, not sure why you reward him? Maybe you can buy your awards?
It would be fascinating to get inside the head of a brainwashed Man City fan and follow their thought processes and contortions over over the past few years. If anyone knows who @Woody7716 (or similar) is, drop me an email, and I'll ask them about their experience.
EIGHT years since the PL started gathering evidence in 2018. Three and a half years since 115 charges. Two years since 12-week hearing when mcfc could produce “irrefutable” evidence of innocence (rejected).
Your “no evidence” argument is therefore garbage.
@RealChrisWood@sheffjim@StanisElsborg You can read pieces up until the paywall but not beyond unless you’re a paid subscriber. Would you like me to quiz you on what you read about paid MCFC ambassadors?
@RealChrisWood@sheffjim@StanisElsborg Hi Chris, you’ve said you’ve read my stories, which would include the one about City (paid) ambassadors defending City. But as you’re not a paid subscriber to my site, how have you read my stories?
It's got to be you, Fab. For your entirely consistent reporting on Man City, both via your forensic work on the guilty verdicts and the years of controversy and previous punishments, and for your hagiography coverage of wins such as today's 3-2 versus Ipswich.
@JeanBur84953510 Worried that your club's owners lied to you? Worried that fans might turn anger at the owners into violent protests? That the club's appeals will fail and you'll be relegated?
Hi Veejay, your "how it reads for me" seems a little extreme. I don't want anyone destroyed. I don't want City punished out of existence. But if upheld after appeal(s), the many guilty verdicts of egregious cheating should be suitably punished. As should any other club's cheating
Unbelievable achievement.
And massive props to the Man City commercial department for generating the funds to buy, build and pay a squad of such talents over more than a decade.
