@adulpanget@parzr1@Boenau@vasalex93 sorry that i’m arrogant to wish for safe quick reliable travel for myself and others.
humans tiny. bus big. but yes prefer if the bus not run over the human to get the other humans to their destination a little bit faster.
@parzr1@Boenau@vasalex93 i’d venture to say it’s because of unwillingness to sacrifice vehicular lane width or quantity.
and yea bike roads don’t need the space. without faster, larger, deadlier, traffic to compete with, you don’t need the distance to keep you safe from potential collisions
Lets return DuSable Lake Shore Drive to the people. We can have a lakefront thoroughfare where green urban mobility is emphasized, focus on multimodal transpo. & create more green space & recreational opportunities for ALL Chicagoans. I filed HR438 today. https://t.co/gKonE11mf7
BREAKING: Today, IDOT Secretary Omer Osman was joined by Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Rep Mike Quigley (IL-5) to unveil new plans for North DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
"This groundbreaking highway-to-boulevard conversion puts Illinois on the cutting edge of resilient design," he said.
Opportunities to take bold steps toward the future don’t come often. North DuSable Lake Shore Drive is being redesigned, and the options under consideration would lock the lakefront into another century where cars come first and people come second. I offer a different vision.
“The dangerous conditions on Milwaukee illustrate a much larger problem: the lack of an overall safe bike network. Even on key routes, there’s often nothing but paint or crushed plastic to protect you.”

people make their way to the surface, wait about 15 min for when suddenly there is panic that a train actually arrived and it’s a rush to get back underground
