Hamid Shafeeu, former Chief Technology Officer of the President's Office, has passed away this morning. Hamid, 48, passed away in India, according to "Adhadhu".
Hamid is a graduate of Computer Science (BSc Hons.) from University College London. He is also a certified support specialist of Nutanix and Cisco Meraki.
After attaining his degree, Hamid worked at the President's Office (1998 - 2007) as Manager, Technical Services Unit, and Chief Network Administrator of the Information Systems Section. He has also worked in various private sector organizations, including AAA & Trading Company, Leaf Technology, and Intellexi Networks.
On 28th November 2019, then-President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Hamid Shafeeu as the Chief Technology Officer of the President's Office. Hamid served as the CTO until the end of the Solih administration.
According to former Minister of Economic Development, Fayyaz Ismail, Hamid's work played a significant role in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives.
Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih conveyed condolences to Hamid Shafeeu's family on his passing. "Hamid is a renowned figure in the Maldives' IT sector, and has contributed many valuable services in his field," said President Solih.
