Halsema is voor “rechts” altijd al een gewilde “kop van Jut” geweest en daar maakt ze nu dankbaar gebruik van om als BBB weer in de actualiteit te komen. I hear this argument a lot:

"Russia warned Ukraine not to join NATO. But NATO kept offering cooperation to Ukraine. We were warned, didn't listen, and that's why the war started."

For some reason, this argument resonates with a lot of people.

But what if tomorrow Russia warned the USA not to drill oil in Texas?

What if Russia warned France not to speak French?

Would we seriously argue that these countries should obey Russia simply because Russia warned them?

Of course not.

Now, you could argue that NATO membership is different because it involves military security. Fair enough. Russia has every right to raise security concerns, negotiate, and seek agreements.

But since when does having security concerns give one country the right to decide what another country can or cannot do?

Obviously, the difference is that Russia is a big country with a large and powerful military, while Ukraine is much smaller and poorer.

And apparently, that's why we're supposed to listen to Russia's demands.

But think about what this argument actually means.

It means that powerful countries get to dictate the policies of weaker countries, and if those weaker countries refuse, invading them becomes somehow understandable, or even justified.

So ultimately, its about one question:

Do we agree to reward imperialism simply because the imperial power is stronger?

Ukraine simply dared to stand up for its independent future.

Als het gaat om het bieden van een kindveilige omgeving, dan lijkt het mij dat predikanten, dominees en andere geestelijken de situatie rond Jetten even dienen te laten gaan.

Anders heb ik nog wel ff wat cijfers paraat. Onder meer over seksueel misbruik van kinderen binnen de kerk.

Wat niet alleen tamelijk vaak voorkomt, maar ook nog eens met de mantel der 'liefde' wordt bedekt.

Beste Lonneke ik heb altijd voor deze rechten gevochten. Toen mijn man en ik gingen trouwen hadden wij alleen de mogelijkheid om een kind te kunnen adopteren. Dat je nu in Nederland via eiceldonatie en een draagmoeder een kind kan verwachten vind ik gewoon heel erg mooi. Dit jongetje of meisje heeft straks 2 ouders die heel veel van hem/ haar houden en zal met veel liefde worden opgevoed.

En ik vecht nu nog steeds voor LHBTI++ rechten omdat mensen zoals jij ons die gelijke rechten willen afnemen

Als Van der Plas vindt dat Halsema moet opstappen op basis van een voorstelling van zaken die juridisch veel ingewikkelder ligt, mag haar eigen politieke verantwoordelijkheid óók ter discussie staan.

Politiek bedrijven met verdachtmakingen en simplificaties ondermijnt het debat. Wie zo zwaar beschuldigt, moet ook bereid zijn de feiten volledig en eerlijk te wegen.

Het moge ondertussen wel duidelijk zijn dat Mevrouw van der Plas vieze vuile politiek bedrijft.
