I am deeply honored and excited to announce my appointment as the new Editor-in-Chief of eJHaem, the Gold Open Access journal of the British Society for Haematology. Since its inception in 2020, eJHaem has steadily advanced its mission of promoting hematology knowledge across the globe.
As this year comes to a close, I will complete my tenure with the British Journal of Haematology (BJH), where I have had the privilege of serving as Associate Editor since 2019. It has been a remarkable journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a prestigious publication.

Recentemente, dei uma entrevista ao Notícias R7 sobre a anemia aplástica, condição abordada na novela Força de Mulher. Na trama, a protagonista Bahar enfrenta a necessidade de um transplante de medula óssea após o diagnóstico da doença.

A anemia aplástica (ou aplásica) se caracteriza pela incapacidade da medula óssea de produzir células sanguíneas suficientes, resultando em sintomas como fraqueza, fadiga e sangramentos. Essa condição pode ser hereditária, mas a forma adquirida, em que o sistema imunológico ataca a medula óssea, é a mais prevalente.

O diagnóstico é realizado através de hemograma e a biópsia da medula, enquanto o tratamento pode envolver transplante ou terapia imunossupressora, dependendo do perfil do paciente.
