I have been in the Army since May 1998. I have been a member of the LDS church my whole life, though inactive for a decade. I am looking for inspiration
As I was reading this week's Come, Follow Me. I am always interested in why the Lord gives specific details. For example, at the end of Exodus, he gives detailed descriptions of the Tabernacle. Why?
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Moses 6:34 Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me.
Years ago I worked in the city maintenance department with a guy who was a very devoted Christian and we would often talk about God. Once he lost his temper when I brought up the Book of Mormon and said “there are no other stories about Jesus”.
One of my favourite verses from the New Testament that hints at the need for more sacred writings is John 21: 25
“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the booksthat should be written.”
I would invite everyone to read the Book of Mormon, just to try it and see what it is all about.
@RobinMeade anyone that served in the military receives a DD214 that shows their service dates and awards. It's like their ID card. Also maybe use the VA card if eligible.
