@demosthenes_km ok but by not being a hindu brahm rn I have subscribed to reincarnating 1000 times as a cockroach and it’s all because of the mercury 10* chiron in aquarium that makes my personality fundamentally blah blah blah dick measuring contest snap out of it is a good song
the best way to get over major trauma is to realize that honestly it wasn’t that big of a deal. nerds are criminally neglected. I was free-range mini-robinson naturalist Slartibartfast . let me tell you about the time my grandmother and I climbed a rotten shed to get plums . let me tell you about how to tame wild dogs. let me inform you of how to best house snails in a tiny town made on a big peice of wood with a bakery and a large wall to keep the captives in
taking this seriously has some funny implications. eg it suggests that you should be able to do therapy on yourself by basically writing fanfiction about your own life to alter your beliefs about yourself. i think something like this is an NLP technique
states of mind and the beliefs you currently hold can be treated as bayesian and updated based on reward: effectiveness at achieving the mind state and personal success you desire
any fixed belief that goes against this is actively harming you and it is my central and last word of advice to imagine yourself crumpling it up and tossing it into the trash
@demosthenes_km you can be haunted, dragged by the friction of the past, or you can be homing, pulled by the potential of the future
the root is the same the delta is up to you
homie my mom didnt talk to me for days when I got a B in 2nd grade and was totally ok with forgetting I needed to eat for weeks when I was 11
you build a model of a better parent out of all the other people that tried, get therapy to notice and reframe shame/guilt, and refuse to partake in the community the internet has built around feeling bad for yourself all the fucking time. if you have time to wallow your life is boring and you should fix that
just don’t accept a mental model of the self that insinuates victimhood or being a survivor or unworthiness or whatever it’s literally a waste of mental resources that you could be dedicating to making something beautiful and true
@calicomccoy the narrativization of the self is a critical human trait and we have next to no cultural norms around maintaining awareness of it. biggest failure of the west
build a bridge and get over it. if you need advice please consult the SAS survival handbook I read 30 times. you can try finding a really whippy tree that always looked like the most fun
@calicomccoy baby’s first language morse code? apparently hand signs ease the transition between wanting to communicate and not being able to make complex noises but you could switch it up
@1thousandfaces_@citrinitae yes i call it Human Cat Food and it is a great snack
you think you invented this but I was born into it. raised on it. molded by it (not allowed unhealthy snacks as a child and loved these things)
