You are looking at Dragon Ball before Dragon Ball became Dragon Ball.
This is Akira Toriyamas original Dragon Ball artwork from the very first chapter, published in 1984.
Top Artwork: Chapter 1 - November 20, 1984.
Bottom Artwork: Chapter 2 - one week later.
This is where Dragon Ball began.
The original manga artwork from the very beginning of the story.
That same manga has now sold 260M+ copies worldwide.
40+ years later, this original 1984 artwork is sitting on a Fusion World card.
Think about that.
You are not just collecting Dragon Ball art.
You are collecting a piece of the beginning of one of the biggest entertainment franchises ever created.
This is also what makes Fusion World TCG so valuable to me. It features Toriyamas original manga artworks.
Most people will only find and understand cards like these after years of collecting.
Rather follow me and understand them now.
Also dont forget Fusion World TCG is only 2 years old..
Dragon Ball is a ~$1.2B/year printing machine for Bandai.
And almost nobody is looking at what that could mean for its TCG.
Bandai reported roughly $1.2B in Dragon Ball IP sales in FY2025.
One Piece did roughly $878M
Dragon Ball generated ~37% more IP sales than One Piece.
Without even running a anime for most of that time.
Now imagine what happens when the content pipeline finally comes back this and next year.
Think about it.
One Piece TCG became one of the biggest TCGs in the world in just a few years.
Now look at Dragon Ball.
A ~$1.2B IP ecosystem sitting behind a TCG that is still tiny compared to One Piece.
Fusion World is still dramatically smaller than One Piece Card Game, despite Dragon Ball being the larger Bandai IP by annual sales.
Its crazy how early we still are. We are barely at the beginning, and we are already starting to see serious traction with ST01.
One Piece proved how powerful a Bandai TCG can become when the IP and card game finally catch up with each other.
Im watching to see what happens when Dragon Ball gets the same attention soon.
Because right now, the size of the IP and the size of the TCG dont match.
A detailed article about the rarest cards in Dragon Ball Fusion World is coming in the next few days.
Right now, there is only ONE complete PSA 10 set in existence.
In my opinion, this will eventually become one of the most important and essential sets for every serious Fusion World collector.
The population numbers are insanely low, and once you understand the history and rarity behind these cards, you’ll see why this set is so special.
Compared to this, even the Serialized Son Goku feels like nothing.
Full breakdown coming soon. 👀🔥
This Fusion World card is original 1984 Toriyama.
Pulling exactly this iconic card is crazy when keeping in mind how expensive SB01 already is.
SB01-053 Son Goku Childhood (Alt).
Young Goku on the log, monkeys flying in... this exact scene is over 40 years old and comes straight from the very first chapters of Dragon Ball.
This complete manga panel art is one of the cleanest nostalgia pieces in the entire SB01 set.
In Manga Booster 01 the Alternate Art pulling rate is super low, roughly one Alt Art per box split across multiple different cards.
Once the market fully catches up to the combination of iconic art + limited supply... this one has serious upside.
People still massively underestimate how big the Dragon Ball IP actually is.
Son Goku E-42 Gold Energy Marker.
This is the exact art from Volume 1 of the original manga.
Akira Toriyamas very first official Dragon Ball cover.
This is where it all started.
Only ~200-300 raw copies are believed to exist.
PSA has graded just 84 total.
BGS has graded only 105 total and of those, just 5 Black Labels.
Also dont forget, Dragon Ball has sold over 300 million manga copies worldwide and remains one of the biggest entertainment IPs on the planet…
Toei Animation recently committed ~$450 million over the next 10 years to expand Dragon Ball.
The franchise has already been running for over 40 years.
Even without constant new anime, the games, movies, and merch still perform at a massive level worldwide.
Yet its TCG market is still a fraction of One Piece or Pokémon. So the potential for an upsight is HUGE.
Fusion World is still only about 1/6 the size of the One Piece TCG market. Which really sounds crazy to me and marks how early we still are. While writing this post I realize I need more cards…😅
Also important to only focus on Fusion World TCG.
Sorry to the Masters community, but…
Fusion World is the modern TCG Bandai is clearly pushing as the long term main line.
(simpler rules, bigger art, digital integration, and the only one with true original Manga gems).
Masters is the older and outdated game, Fusion World is where the real growth and collector support is heading to obviously.
Posting hidden Fusion World gems very soon, dont miss.
Dragon Ball TCG is still ridiculously small compared to One Piece.
Fusion World is exploding right now even with basically zero new anime content for years.
This Fall we are getting Dragon Ball Super: Beerus:
A remake with new scenes, redrawn animation, and Toriyamas original vision.
Then even bigger: Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol (Moro arc):
New anime + new movie level hype incoming in the next 12 months.
The Dragon Ball TCG market is a fraction of what One Piece is doing.
Same IP power. Same Bandai machine. Way smaller print runs on the chase cards.
If you are still waiting you are about to watch the same move everyone saw with One Piece in 2022–2023.
Who is actually loading up on Fusion World TCG before the anime wave hits?
Btw im posting undervalued gems very soon..
The Dragon Ball TCG market is still cooking and people dont see it.
CardLadders Dragon Ball index just printed +26% in the last 3 months.
This is still a young TCG (launched 2024).
Compared to Pokémon or One Piece the graded populations on the true chase cards are ridiculously low.
Thats the part people keep underestimating.
What to keep in mind:
The real upside is still in the scarce stuff: Serials, winner stamps, gold energy markers. They will not be reprinted.
When the next big anime push or championship season hits, these low pop pieces can legitimately explode over the next 6–12 months.
The market is rising fast… and the rarest cards still have a ton of runway left.
Meanwhile the real chase cards are even crazier: Regional Championship Goku FP-001 (pop 134) → sold for $14k
Serials and winner promos with populations under 100-500 are going to move crazy.
And also keep this in mind when investing in Dragon Ball cards right now:
Only focus on Fusion World!
Its the set that has the strongest longterm support from Bandai and is clearly positioned to become the main Dragon Ball TCG.
This Son Goku is still heavily slept on in Dragon Ball Fusion World.
Its the SB01 Release Event Winner promo with original Toriyama manga art.
Only winners of the Manga Booster 01 events got this gold version. Super limited and still massively undervalued imo.
You could grab it for ~$70 just a couple of days ago.
I wonder when people notice how limited these really are lol
This black Arcane Box from 2024 is still only $1K… and it might be the biggest missed opportunity in Riftbound right now.
I genuinely believe its one of the biggest sleeping gems in Riftbound TCG.
Here is why:
• Super limited: Only 5,000 boxes ever made
• Significantly rarer than the English white Arcane Box, which already sells for more despite having a much higher print run (20,000 copies).
• True First Edition of Riftbound (Project K era)
• Original 2024 card design & layout that was changed later -> never coming back
This is the earliest official collectors box in Riftbounds history and the box itself feels and looks so much better than the english white Arcane Box.
The market is sleeping.
@djmirage23 This one is special because its Goku when he turned ultra instinct for the first time, also its his strongest form plus the artwork is crazy. Its a true collectors piece 🥹
Only 128 copies worldwide.
The Son Goku FB04-129 Tournament card is heavily slept on right now.
Only the top 32 Winners got this championship card in 4 different regions.
Also the Artwork is crazy plus it has a stamp.
I mean we are talking about the MAIN CHARACTER in his STRONGEST FORM!
