A few very autistic moments:

• Someone is talking, but my brain isn't processing a single word.
• Finally stimming again after holding it in all day.
• I desperately need my headphones.
• Why did my voice sound like that?
• Music isn't loud enough unless I can feel it through my whole body.
• Numbers suddenly make no sense.
• One foot stepped on a crack, so the other one has to match.
• I want to absorb everything about my current special interest.
• Everything needs to be organized right now.

People often assume autistic people take every phrase literally. That's usually not how it works.

I know "it's raining cats and dogs" isn't about animals falling from the sky. But if someone casually says, "See you later," I may genuinely believe they intend to see me again because I tend to trust words at face value.
