As Gustism Acceptance Month comes to a close.
We shared pieces of our little Gus Gus. The everyday moments, the challenges, the laughter, and everything in between.
More than anything, we shared who he is.
Thank you to everyone who followed along, took the time to read, learn, and be part of this journey with us. It truly means a lot.
We hope this month showed that understanding matters...patience matters...acceptance matters.
We think about a world that understands him a little better than it did before.
And weโll keep showing up for him every step of the way...supporting him, celebrating him, and making sure he always knows exactly how loved he is.
Gustism Acceptance Month โ Day 29
When we think about the future, we think about Gus.
We think about him continuing to grow, learn, and do things in his own way. We think about more moments of laughter, more routines, more of the things that make him who he is.
Donโt judge.
Youโre only seeing a moment, not the whole story.
Give space when itโs needed.
Sometimes thatโs the most helpful thing you can do.
And if youโre not sure what to doโฆ
just lead with kindness.
Gustism Acceptance Month โ Day 29
Embrace. Celebrate. Accept.
If you ever see someone out in public who might need a little extra understanding, here are a few simple things you can do:
Be patient.
Give them a little extra time.
Be kind.
A smile or a calm presence goes a long way.
Everyone is carrying something.
You might not see it. You might not understand it. But itโs there.
A tough day. A hard moment. Something bigger going on behind the scenes.
Autism or not, weโre all going through something.
You never fully know what someone is going through in that moment. A little patience, a little understanding, and a little grace can go a long way.
Because kindness always matters.
Gustism Acceptance Month โ Day 26
Embrace. Celebrate. Accept.
If thereโs one thing we hope people take away from this month, itโs this....Just be kind.
No matter the situation.
No matter the circumstance.
Autism or not.
Gus has one of those laughs that makes my heart smile!
The kind that comes out of nowhere....usually from a song, a show, or something only he fully understands.
And once it starts, we're laughing too, whether you know why or not.
Gustism Acceptance Month โ Day 25
Thatโs why awareness is important, but acceptance is even more important.
Because understanding leads to patience, and patience makes a difference.
Gustism Acceptance Month โ Day 24
Embrace. Celebrate. Accept.
โข Nearly half of children with autism will wander or elope at some point
โข Many autistic individuals experience anxiety and sensory sensitivities
โข Autism is a lifelong condition, not something someone โgrows out ofโ
Gus has a way about him.
He walks into a room and does things in his own way, on his own time, and in his own world.
Sometimes itโs quiet. Sometimes itโs full of energy. Sometimes itโs something completely unexpected.
But itโs always Gus.
