The Timms Review on PIP is designed to ensure we have a fair benefits system. 14 years of inaction by the Tories allowed the benefits bill to rise. Giving advice to others when you couldn't manage it yourself in government snacks of opportunism.
New: Derbyshire Dales MP @JohnWhitbyMP has signed a letter opposing the leadership campaign
He tells me, "If we're tanking in the opinion polls in a couple years time, maybe you'd do something about it, but we are not even two years in, it's not time to panic"
@benrileysmith@BenInRushcliffe Agree with this - the annual borrowing requirement has fallen to its lowest level in 3 years but overall debt is still rising. There isn't a magic bullet to somehow generate spending without taxes being raised at some point, which are at 70 yr highs. Targeted spending is key.
Congratulations to the Greens on their by-election victory.
And huge thanks to all volunteers and supporters who campaigned for Labour in Gorton & Denton. It was a hard fought campaign and you should be proud of the efforts put into connecting with voters.
Reports back from Gorton & Denton. Reform v Labour seems main battle. Support for Farage's party notable in Gorton in areas of owner occupied houses. Some for Labour. Elsewhere surprising levels of support for Lab, including Muslim areas. Greens - mainly m/c and student backing.
Glad the Parliamentary Labour Party MPs and Cabinet have backed Keir Starmer. Mistakes have been made but believe we're on the right track. Inflation is expected to fall below 2% in April and the £150 energy bill reduction will certainly help. - keep focussing on delivery.
Agree with the comments below - I was surprised that her response was so petulant. It's of course fine to make political points but really destroyed her own arguments by the manner of delivery.
The Tories are apoplectic that their £47bn of welfare cuts have been rejected and that 550,000 children will be lifted out of poverty. Says all you need to know about what the Tories stand for.

What a brilliant knock by Davina Perrin as part of the Northern Supercharger Women's highest total of 214 for 5. London Spirit have a mountain to climb #thehundred2025
What a scintillating end to the third England v India Test match. 112-8 with 2 wickets or 81 runs to win. The first day was an oven (see below) - looks more pleasant today

We're ending nearly two centuries of injustice towards some of the most vulnerable in society.
No one should be criminalised for sleeping rough. By scrapping the cruel, outdated Vagrancy Act, we're ensuring people get support and dignity - not punishment.

Really happy to see £2bn funding for transport for the East Midlands Mayoral Aithority and the decision to proceed with the Chesterfield/Staveley Regeneration Route (Brimington Bypass)
Traffic congestion has been a long-standing problem in Brimington and Staveley on the A619.
Within just two weeks, we have secured trade deals with India, the US and now the EU.
Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer is delivering for British people, British businesses, and British jobs.
