What Could Shape the School Year Ahead in Ontario? https://t.co/kPbY3zXlgA

Good news for Grey Bruce residents - a tentative deal has been reached, and school buses will run normally when school starts:

This Crisis Was Avoidable.

This school bus crisis didn't have to happen.

For months, Grey Bruce school bus operators were negotiating in good faith with their local transportation consortium.

Real progress was being made.

Then, in the spring, the Province stepped in, withdrew support for those discussions and tried to impose a 0% funding increase.

Months of progress were undone.

Families are now facing uncertainty because negotiations were reset just weeks before school starts.

🚨🛑 STOP FOR THE SCHOOL BUS 🛑🚨

Today marks the 26th anniversary of Adam’s passing. His story is a heartbreaking reminder that when red lights flash and the stop arm extends, STOP means STOP. It’s not a suggestion, it’s a child’s life.

Honour Adam. Choose safety.

Winter weather doesn’t change the rules. ❄️

If a school bus has red lights flashing and the stop arm out, traffic must stop in both directions. 🚌🛑

Safety doesn’t take snow days.

Snow doesn’t cancel safety. ❄️

If the bus lights are flashing and the stop arm is out, you MUST stop. 🚨

No matter how cold, snowy, or busy the morning is. 🛑🚌

A few extra seconds can save a child’s life.

Puffy coats and scarves can limit visibility and hearing.

Parents: help your child adjust winter gear so they can clearly see and hear the school bus driver’s instructions. 👀🧣

Prepared kids = safer stops.

Winter mornings arrive with darkness, fog, and blowing snow - making visibility a real challenge. 🌫️🚌

Parents:
✨ Add reflective strips to backpacks and jackets
✨ Use bright colours whenever possible
✨ Encourage kids to stay off snowbanks near the road

Drivers:
🔦 Turn headlights on early
⚠️ Watch for children in dim light
🚦 Stop fully for red lights, even when visibility is low

Let’s brighten winter safety together.

Winter driving is tough, but Ontario’s school bus drivers face it with professionalism and calm every single day. ❄️🧡

They’re out on the road before dawn, navigating icy turns, heavy snow, and freezing winds - all to get students to school safely.

To every driver across Ontario:
👏 Thank you for your skill
👏 Thank you for your patience
👏 Thank you for putting safety first

You are winter’s everyday heroes.

Today, on Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the brave men and women who served, and continue to serve our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to freedom will never be forgotten. ❤️

At School Bus Ontario, we join Canadians across the province in remembering those who gave everything so that generations could grow, learn, and live in peace.

🌺 Lest we forget.

Cold weather means bundling up - but winter gear can make it harder for kids to see and be seen. ❄️👀

Parents, here’s how to help your child stay safe at the bus stop:
🧣 Choose bright or reflective hats and coats
🧤 Keep gloves on so they don't drop items near the road
👣 Remind them to stand 10 steps back from the curb
👋 Teach them to make eye contact with the driver before crossing

Warm, visible, safe - the perfect winter combination. 💛

Rainy weather means:
🌫️ reduced visibility
💧 slick roads
🚗 longer stopping distances

School bus drivers handle these conditions with care and professionalism every day - let’s do the same.

✅ Give buses extra space
✅ Slow down in school zones
✅ Watch for students with umbrellas or hoods that limit their vision
✅ No passing a bus with flashing red lights - ever

A little caution goes a long way on wet roads. 🌧️💛

Every morning, before the sun rises, thousands of Ontario drivers check their mirrors, test their brakes, and start their routes - long before the rest of us start our day. 🌅🚌

They do it with professionalism, care, and a deep sense of responsibility.
They greet students by name.
They notice when someone’s having a hard day.
They care - and that care keeps our roads and our children safe. 💛

Today, and every day, School Bus Ontario says:
👏 Thank you, drivers.
👏 Thank you, mechanics.
👏 Thank you, dispatchers and operators.

You are the heart of student transportation in Ontario.

👻 This Halloween, don’t be a ghoul - stop for flashing lights!🚦🚌

Whether you’re rushing to a party or grabbing last-minute treats, remember: when the school bus stops, so should you.

And here’s another Halloween reminder:
🍬 No tricks - just safety treats!

🚗 Drivers, take it slow through neighbourhoods and around bus stops.
👀 Watch for little ghosts and goblins who may be harder to see at dusk.
🚌 Never pass a school bus with its red lights flashing.
🎒 Remind kids to look both ways before crossing.

Let’s keep Halloween full of treats, smiles, and safe travels - for every child. 💛🎃
