Do a quick mindful check in by asking your students to pause for a moment & notice the sensations they feel in their bodies. Where do they feel tightness? Do their feet feel tingly? Do they feel warmth or coldness in their bodies? Then ask..

When yours or a student's thoughts are spiraling into anger, worries, etc. use the research-based tool of labeling the feeling. This actually helps regulate the emotion. An easy way to remember this trick is to call it “Name It to Tame It” (coined by Dr. Dan Siegel).
How can you keep important traditions while living abroad? Be flexible. You may not be able to find everything you normally use, have to change the timing or use technology to bring everyone together. Flexibility allows you to honor what matters and create new ways to celebrate.
