Today, we honor Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice. Let us reflect, remember, and recommit to building a more equitable future for all. #Juneteenth#FreedomDay#BlackHistory
This day will always be the defining moment of my life. Over the years, I have tried to properly express what this day did to my family, my community, and our country. However, I have fallen short. Neither words nor actions can adequately address the pain and suffering we experienced — along with the embrace from loved ones and strangers in the aftermath. So today I choose to remember this rainbow from 2016, a year after that horrific tragedy happened and took my sister, Myra Thompson, from us. May God's eternal grace be with us now and forever.

South Carolinians deserve to have their voices heard!

The redistricting bill has passed the House by a vote of 74-37.
For over 27 hours across 3 days of debate, Democrats fought to stop Republicans from cheating voters by redrawing congressional districts.
H. 5683 now goes to the Senate.
Republicans just silenced our voices by ramming through an unprecedented change to the rules in the middle of the game.
We are now limited to 1 amendment per representative with strict time limits in order to push through the new congressional map.
We’ll keep fighting when the debate restarts at 10:00am.
Republicans are pushing a mid-election redistricting plan that could cost SC taxpayers millions of dollars. Even election officials admit they still don’t know the full price tag. South Carolinians deserve better than reckless games played with taxpayer money. @SCHouseDems
🚨SC Redistricting Alert🚨
Following adjournment of this morning’s Judiciary Subcommittee hearing, members of the public peacefully demonstrated.
Despite near-unanimous public objection to MAGA Republican redistricting efforts, the committee advanced the bill 3–2.
Rep. Spencer Wetmore is speaking out against Republican efforts to redraw South Carolina’s congressional map mid-cycle.
Voters deserve transparency and fair representation, not political maneuvering to rig the game in the middle of an election year. @RepWetmore@SCHouseDems
SC House Democrats are standing with our farmers and making it clear why it matters for every South Carolinian.
From our economy to our food supply, this is about protecting what keeps our state moving and making sure every South Carolinian is paying attention. @SCHouseDems

We’re just 6 seats away from breaking the Republican supermajority in SC.

You don’t have to be a politician; you just have to care. #scdems@GrantForSC

Democrats worked hard to pass a state budget that invests in the people of South Carolina. Watch Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter highlight a few big wins this week at the State House:
✅ Raised pay for state employees + teachers
✅ Invested in infrastructure like roads, water + sewer
✅ Stopped radical attempts to defund public schools + state agencies
We’ll keep fighting to make life more affordable for working families. Stay tuned!
🚨 H. 4216 Republican Tax Raise 🚨
Republicans just voted to raise state income taxes for thousands of South Carolinians.
Democrats support lowering taxes, but not at the expense of raising taxes on working families.
Defund Clemson? Republican extremists tried to cut funding for public colleges like Clemson and the College of Charleston today.
Their amendments were rejected — but the fight to keep our schools open and lower tuition costs continues.
