Today a parent yelled “put some headphones on. Nobody wants to hear her sangin’” to their child as I began to sing a days of the week song with my Kindergarteners.
How’s your Tuesday going?
I took my Praxis II online today (thanks COVID). After passing all four subtests, I started my victory dance.
Moments later, the sweet proctor (who had just spent 3 hours watching me through my webcam) said “ma’am, you are still being recorded. Please exit the test window”
My brother has been searching for shark teeth every day for the last three weeks. Last night, I stopped by a beach outlet to buy these and and planted them on the beach for him to find. Best $2.99 I’ve ever spent!
The older members of my church are so intentional and caring. But Sis. Perry asked how I’m keeping myself occupied and I’m currently sitting in bed, eating a cupcake at 9:45 am while watching reality TV and I’m not sure that’s the answer she’s looking for...
Reasons my students cried today:
“He said I look like a pelican”
“She said animals can get coronavirus and I think my fish is gonna die”
“I don’t like when you look at me without smiling”
“I accidentally stepped in a puddle and water went through the holes in my shoes (crocs)”
I walked into dinner today wearing a blazer and my 10 y/o brother yelled, “Whoa Emily, you went from Beyoncé to Nancy Pelosi so fast!”
I’m not sure if I am more excited to be compared to Beyoncé or Nancy Pelosi, but I’m honored that he thinks I’m anywhere close to their level.
My name: Ms. Schrock
How I tell my students to pronounce it: “just say shh, then rock”
What I am actually called at school: Ms. Shawack, Ms. Sherlock, Ms. Shlock, Ms. Shock, Ms. Chalk, Ms. Schroke, Ms. Shalock and my personal favorite, Ms. Shrek.
Matt Bevin: "I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today, a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them”
Also, Bevin: *pardons multiple men who were convicted of sexual assault, rape, and other sex crimes*
Donald Trump is still our president.
Popeyes was, at one point, more popular than Chick Fil A.
Kayne is making theologically sound Gospel albums.
2019, you wild.
I handed my 10 y/o sister my phone to DJ in my car expecting to hear Taylor Swift. First she played “hollaback girl”, then “Low” and knew every word to both songs.
Later she said, “I found your old purple iPod and it has really good songs on it” 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

I used to search for hours looking for home decor items online and in store, but now I just give very detailed description of what I’m looking for near my phone and I get ads for the perfect item within 24 hours.
I’m mean, I get privacy concerns, but the convenience aspect is👌🏽
My favorite part of Halloween is that after today, I will no longer see the Instagram caption “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers” 789376852 times per day.
I honestly have no words to offer about the horrific and terrible acts of “homegrown” terrorism we’ve seen in this country in recent days.
All I know to say to our Jewish, Black, minority, and politically “other” neighbors is that you are valuable and important, and I’m sorry.
I’m currently at the Apple store sitting next to a middle aged woman at the Genius Bar. She needed help setting up her Apple ID and is asking the man to help her download apps. These include: Weight Watchers, Fox News, “the Facebook” and Cosmo.
Isabella loves taking back to school pictures. Especially when she’s forced to wear a uniform. I’ve been laughing at her pictures all day, then I opened my Timehop and found her PreK picture and the whole situation became 100 times funnier.
Friends, there is no way to Biblically justify the separation of parents from children ‘as an application to enforce the law.’
Shame on anyone who would misuse the Bible for their political advantage. Some things have not changed.
In honor of Mike Pence speaking at #SBC18 and his comments on making America great again, here’s a poem I wrote for a lit class last semester about Donald Trump’s presidency.
