@robcsernyik@globeandmail I loved my chained job that enabled raising a family, building lasting friendships and community. Nomads can disrupt communities (e.g., article titled “Gringo go home”). Nomadic living: Ask not what you can do for your community, ask what someone else’s community can do for you.
@cafreeland Suggest you read your predecessor Bill Morneau's book who talks about the current government running out of time to get their books in order and begs them to be more transparent. This post is an example of the irresponsibility he cites. #SpendLikeADrunk
@naterotman Vancouver basement suites used to be an entry point in the housing market for those who come to live and work and are committed to contributing to the community long term. Shame on BC for allowing AirBnB to slowly destroy communities by denying residents this housing stock.
@7im@RollingStone In the wise words of ChatGPT: "it's important to note that the term "war criminal" is legally defined and subject to international law. While opinions on Kissinger vary, he has not been formally charged or convicted as a war criminal."
@lexfridman I would have liked to have asked John Mearsheimer if the Ukrainian people have the right to decide whether their leaders should align with Russians or the West. And whether or not they made that choice in the years before the invasion?
@ChefDez@BrevilleCanada Does this machine force cleaning like the Breville Bambino? This force cleaning cycle is very inconvenient and unnecessary in the region I live in as the water is soft. I don't like my appliances to run my life, I expect them to make my life easier.
@Khelsilem Totally disagree. Locals and tourists use this 32 km+ long seawall to be active; to move about, not to sit, eat & drink. @Vancouver, please don't start leasing the open spaces around the seawall to the hospitality industry. Who wants to pay big $ for a table to enjoy the space.
@ronmortgageguy I can verify this. I was on a cycling trip in Japan in 2019. We would cycle into smaller villages midday and wonder "where are all the people?", "Surely they're not all out fishing?".
Shocking. But maybe this is a good thing. Does mother earth need 20 billion human locust?
@iamkennethchan I don't agree. European plazas are places of inactivity: people to go sit, eat, drink & watch. Vancouver seawalls (also North Shore seawall, Richmond dykes) are places of healthy activities: people go to walk, bike, scooter etc.
@AndreaWoo I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma in 2015, treated promptly. Surveillance found a recurrence in 2020, again treated in a timely manner. The complex treatments involved multidisciplinary teams. I'm forever grateful for the excellent care recieved in BC.
