@ThriceArmed@dr_jon_l @itsmepeesh @MartinKulldorff He's a practicing physician. So, "thrice" what did you do while morgue trucks were lined up at hospitals... hide in your home behind mountains of toilet paper? π€£π€£π€£
@Golden_Pup Explain exactly what you would expect to be different from the previous studies and why. Also please discuss in your ill-informed essay why the flu shot does not undergo clinical trials every year.
@jackie_nh That was scientific word salad and protein modeling assumption leaps that would have had a student fail their first year of graduate school. outright disregard.
Guillain-Barre occurs after viral infection (other viruses too) at higher rates than post-vaccination. This is well known. Peru is the only place in the world with a higher per-capita death rate than the United States (as of a few months ago).
There has been a spike in Guillian-Barre syndrome in Peru.
I know people will be wondering..
The vaccination rate for Peru is 84.21%.
Guillian-Barre syndrome is said to be an adverse reaction.

@Parsifaler Hi Walter, since I've been in the field of immunology for two decades and have taught medical school courses. Enlighten me as to why someone wearing a mask makes you believe they are ignorant re: science, medicine, and their own personal risk factors? Also what is your degree in?
@NewLauras Many vaccines carry a very small risk of development of GBS, however that risk is several fold lower than the risk of virus infection causing GBS. I'd prefer the odds to be in my favor.
@LordofHardwired in more detail it's a large double stranded DNA virus that is likely to have a lower mutational rate than other viruses (though I would need to check data on that). Can not be acquired from properly cooked pork products (as one should always do).
Exactly. There is no selective pressure for SARS-CoV-2 to become less pathogenic. There is selective pressure for higher transmissibility which can occur with higher viral loads. Higher virus loads can lead to higher pathogenicity.
I only meant to push back on the notion that 'viruses become less pathogenic with time', which I've heard a lot.
It doesn't work that way.
Viruses select for maximum transmission, period. Sometimes that makes them more pathogenic, other times less. They don't care.

@LordofHardwired Outbreaks in Asia, Russia, and South Eastern US likely to skyrocket pork product prices. Causes fever and internal bleeding in humans, but no human to human transmission that I can find. Live attenuated animal vaccine developed in 2022. Europe was able to eradicated it in 90's
