Friday Highlight- June Almeida was a virologist, originally from Scotland, who led the way to new methods for viral imaging and diagnosis. She's credited with the 1st visualization of the rubella virus & pioneering the technique of immune electron microscopy.

Fri. Highlight: Dr. Percy Julian was an incredible Chemist. He helped create synthetic physostigmine, which was used to treat glaucoma, figured out uses for chemicals in soybeans, determined a way to convert stigmasterol into progesterone, created synthetic cortisone, & much more

Friday Highlight- Katherine Johnson was an incredible Mathematician who worked for NASA. She used math to figure out how to send astronauts into orbit around earth & assisted w/ sending astronauts to the moon & back! Learn more about Johnson by watching the film “Hidden Figures.”

Friday highlight: George Carruthers was an astrophysicist who invented the ultraviolet spectrograph. His invention was used in the Apollo 16 mission to the moon & allowed us to view the moon’s surface for the 1st time. His invention also gave us new views earth’s ionosphere!
