Our new exhibit about #biomimicry (overcoming human challenges with solutions from #nature) is officially OPEN! And it is, in my totally mostly somewhat (๐ ) unbiased opinion, one of the most gorgeous exhibits we've ever hosted. Tons of #information and COLOUR! ๐๐๐
Many people are unaware that the taxidermy mounts in our Biome were killed and stuffed as a warning to other animals for crimes against mankind. This mule deer, for example, was put to death for practicing medicine without a license in 1959. #canadianhealthcare#fact
Last week a 10 year-old Cree lad visiting from Saskatchewan asked me science questions for two hours, told me he wants to be a policeman and/or baseball trainer, formally introduced me to his mom, then gave me this cool rock he found by the river. Where's your #pocketrock from?
FPO (1/2): After Victoria I got on another plane, this time to the place where I grew up. It was a bittersweet visit, with the pleasure of family and the beauty of nature offset by an economy ruined by years of disastrous government. But the breezes were nice.
Regular visitors ask me sometimes, "Where'd Christopher Larsen go?" Now I can tell them. Mr Larsen is over there. In the park. Colouring messages of positivity and affirmation. Because of course he is. #thatsjustchris ๐
For yesterday's #EarthDay my team and I broke the cardinal rule of egg hatching--"Let Nature Take Its Course"--and rescued a baby chicken from certain death by (very carefully!) helping it out of its shell. Go team! ๐ฃ #miraclebaby#seerulesarelikeeggs
Just in time! Between baby chickens hatching and our annual #Egg Drop Engineering Challenge (totally separate events, btw), today is going to be BUSY and FUN! #easter#buonapasqua#babychickens#cacklefruit
VICTORIA, BC (3/3): With only a day to explore, @RoyalBCMuseum was a must. Best part was eavesdropping on a school field trip as interpreter Leslie McGarry, fourth generation of her family in that role, dropped some spicy knowledge about totem pole symbology. #explorevictoria
VICTORIA, BC (2/3): I tried to use my time wisely. Wandered @russellbooksvictoria for hours. Ate lunch at @lafogata_latina, a hole in the wall where a little Colombian lady asked me, "You like rice? Goooood." @Victoriabugzoo had the coolest bugs, like ants who garden?? ๐ฎ
VICTORIA, BC (1/3): You might think working at The Exploration Place is all fun and games, but actually we have fun and games in other places too. In January I visited Victoria courtesy of @artsbc, and it took me this long to post about it. Whoops! But what a blast I had.
And just to follow up on that last post...

International Women's Day! My eternal gratitude to the ones on my team who every day suffer my corny jokes with patience instead of projectiles. No finer people are anywhere to be found. #internationalwomensday
