“We must be careful not to make the Church a mirror of the world. She is called to be a sign of contradiction.”
—Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A. (now Pope Leo XIV)

The untold story of new elected Pope Robert Prevost: 🧵
Already secular media voices are insisting that the Holy Father’s choice of Leo XIV suggests he is a social liberal/progressive because, they insist, Pope Leo XIII was. Before they conclude their delusional victory lap, let’s clarify some things about Pope Leo XIII.
Here’s a 🧵
Friends, greetings from St. Peter’s Square on this extraordinary night!
Having spoken with Cardinal Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, a number of times, I know him as a man of great intelligence, experience, and prayerfulness. I hope his election will have a vivifying effect on the American church.
Let’s all pray for our new pope, Leo XIV!
@BishopWall Your Excellency,my dad,Rhett Brotherton, died yesterday morning (on St Patrick’s).I know he valued your friendship. Please, if you could, offer mass for him.He always told us to request masses for his soul once he died & he would be especially delighted for a successor of apostles
@patrickmadrid@patrickmadrid This was my dad’s last social media post. He died last night (very early this morning). Please keep him in your prayers. He always requested many masses be said for the repose of his soul 🙏 He was a very honorable man.
Friends, I wanted to share some reflections with you concerning a recent clip I saw from @MSNBC, which was one of the most disturbing and frankly dangerous things I’ve ever seen in a political conversation. @HeidiReports@politico
The Hell There Is: Tradition is unanimous on the existence and the eternity of hell, if we except a few discordant voices between the third and the fifth centuries. influenced by the personal opinions of Origen, who thought that probably after long expiation all creatures would be purified and united forever with God. A few Fathers underwent his influence, but St. Augustine, re-echoing the protests of others, refuted these strange opinions in the name of Tradition and Sacred Scripture.
Origenism was condemned by Pope Victor (Synod of Constantinople, 543 and II Council of Constantinople, 553). Moreover, the Church's doctrine is clear and constant (IV Lateran Council, Council of Florence, and the Council of Trent).
