They said measles was gone, folks. The experts, the so‑called experts, they said it was eliminated. But not on my watch. We brought it back, and we brought it back strong.

We had sleepy measles, failing measles. Now we have winning measles. Very powerful numbers, incredible numbers, record numbers, quite frankly.

They have known measles for many, many years; it’s not something new, believe me, but nobody has made measles respected again like we have.

Some people call it a problem. I call it a tremendous opportunity. The fake news won’t tell you this, but measles is hot again. Measles is respected again. We did that.

I am a citizen of Greenland 🇬🇱

You must understand the gravity of the situation.

The people of Greenland are not for sale. The citizens of Greenland are not slaves. Slavery was abolished in 1865, and the idea that a people or their land can be acquired has no place in the modern world, under international law, or within democratic societies.

At this moment, the citizens of Greenland—from children to the elderly—are feeling unsafe and deeply unsettled by the current situation. No population should be made to feel fear or insecurity because of statements made by those in positions of power.

There are no Russian or Chinese naval forces operating in Greenlandic waters. Claims suggesting otherwise are false and misleading.

The United States already has a strong and long-standing defense agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark. This agreement has provided the United States with full military access to Greenland in support of American and allied security.

You, as members of Congress, have a responsibility to act. You must uphold international law, respect the sovereignty of allies, and ensure that no attempt is made to take control of Greenland🇬🇱

You took an oath to the Constitution, not to President Trump.

The world is watching. The people of Greenland are watching. Action is required now.

This year’s Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences goes to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt. Why?

Because they explained something we often take for granted:

Why the modern world keeps getting richer.
The answer?
Innovation.

Let’s break it down 👇

For most of human history, economic growth was flat.📜 Better tools came and went.
📉 Gains in income vanished in the next famine, war, or plague.
⏳ Progress existed, but it didn’t compound.

Then came something different.

Over the last 200 years, growth didn’t just happen - it sustained.

Year after year.
Decade after decade.
Enough to lift billions out of poverty.

The question is:
Why now?
Why us?
Why did growth suddenly stick?

That’s where this year’s laureates come in.
🧠 Joel Mokyr (historian of ideas).
📈 Philippe Aghion & Peter Howitt (economic theorists).

Each uncovered a different piece of the puzzle:
How innovation became self-reinforcing.

📚 Mokyr’s insight:
Progress doesn’t just need invention.
It needs explanation.

In the past, people stumbled onto new techniques - but didn’t know why they worked.

Without a scientific foundation, progress fizzled out.

⚙️ Aghion & Howitt’s insight:
They built the modern theory of creative destruction.
When a better product enters the market, old ones fail.

That’s creative - it builds new industries.
That’s destructive - it kills outdated ones.

It’s uncomfortable.
It creates winners and losers.
But it’s also the engine of growth.

Together, their work explains the cycle of innovation:

If - and this is key - society allows it.

This Nobel Prize isn’t about the past.
