Soooo, my story on Jupiter and the Juno mission @sciam, "A Planet Revealed", won the @AAS_Office's 2026 Jonathan Eberhart Planetary Sciences Journalism award!
Thanks aplenty to my glorious editor @ClaraMoskowitz for shaping it, and always letting me write big space-y tales. :)
This is my last-ever story for The NYT Science desk. I could have headlined it "Where Has All the Food Noise Gone" for the @tedleo fans, but I went with the Don McLean
Early in my 11 years with @NYTScience I was entrusted with the Trilobites franchise. When @heathertal started it, the idea was simple -- keep it short; keep it visual; keep it fascinating. The last Trilobite I assigned and edited has published and it's a fun one...
Congratulations to an incredible editor and a fantastic human being! Easily one of the best in the biz. The cosmos is so fortunate to have been under your watchful eyes at NYT for more than a decade, Michael! 🌌🚀☄️🪐🔭
And congrats to the Express desk for a smart hire!
After 11 years as an editor on Health & Science, I have joined the Express team as its deputy editor. Thrilled to make the move and join @MHoppertNYT's terrific team

I had been planning to announce "some personal news" to the world in January or February and then NASA decided to launch Artemis II in April. And tbqh, that's fair, good call NASA.
But here goes...
