I've been out on medical leave for the last month and my amazing department sent me these today π₯°
Feeling loved, appreciated, and missed. I can't wait to get better and back to the work family!
I absolutely have some of the best kids and parents. They didn't have to but half of my homeroom kids/parents reached out to ask about covid testing and to report their negative results! See y'all tomorrow @FriendshipPCS

Shout out to @VDHgov!
I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the Gander Mountain site. Everything was so efficient and my nurse was amazing!
A6. There's a lot of work, but there are also a lot of us teachers willing to do it. I'm going to keep pushing for standards based grading in my school and district to help with the subjectivity.

A5. No resource in particular, however, just getting to see how subjecive grading practices can be and how students can be excluded from AP/Honors classes due to behavior but not academic ability has truly made me reflect on what is happening. #NoVAedchat
@MsPettyTweets Absolutely. A numerical grade isn't necessary. If we really want to see growth and progress, it should be individualized because all students have different needs/levels #novaedchat
A4. We need to figure out what we're grading and why. It's fine to grade for executive functioning or behavior, but it needs to be separated from content mastery. There should also be a place to grade/measure progress to get a better picture of the student.

A3. I always allow redos and retakes instead of extra credit. My students benefit by having another opportunity for mastery and to hopefully reflect on the content/standard.

A2. Fortunately, I can use IEP goals to grade my students on their progress, however, many times executive functioning plays a role due to work avoidance or attendance issues
