When writing a novel, there is no such thing as a โbadโ first draft. You are simply storyboarding. There is no film yet, no โaction,โ no actors. Your only job is blocking the beats, imagining the frames, holding up your fingers as an invisible camera, storyboarding.
@Emilys_bond@chronicles_of_n Could be! When my husband and I were struggling to become parents, those notes from the authors about infertility, miscarriage, etc., were very much appreciated. I needed reading to get through that time, and knowing those books weren't a good fit in the moment was so helpful.
@Emilys_bond@chronicles_of_n A writer in my critique group had a romance with one of the Big 5 two years ago and requested a TW for parent loss. The publisher declined. She now posts them on her website and social media. Not sure how much of it is writer versus publisher, but one take on trad pub.
