Not the @CityofPerth.
It is the job of Federal Parliament to decide when Australia Day will be observed... not local councils.
Until such time as Federal Parliament changes the date, we will continue to reflect, respect and celebrate as is appropriate on January 26 in Perth and proudly so.
We are mindful of community conversations and sentiment but this decision to allow Councils to effectively pick their own date goes completely against what a national day should be and do. It should bring us together not push us a part.
