@GravasCosta@srkninci Again, ask the peoples of the Balkans. The families whose sons were kidnapped, forced to convert to Islam, and to fight for the empire who oppressed them.
@markbur84269872@DeepIntelHQ A Catholic/CHristian does not ignore the Jewish contributions because we have all the Old Testament, including books that the rabbinic tradition has expunged.
@JesusSaves1500 Little thought exercise: should we find one of the other letters by St. Paul (there were more, as we know from the letters we have), would that be Bible?
By the way there are plenty of ancient books that almost made the Bible who said "no' to those?
@MJKelleyII The Uniates are not Latin, dude. Their Bible is in Slavonic, which - I daresay - you did not even know existed.
One of the biggest problems of people that try to 'reform' something they Know nothing about...
@teslimcan1@srkninci My point was to show that historical competitions are not a great base to do better. I answered - intentionally using YOUR tones - to point that out, this are the results. Quod erat demonstrandum.
@GravasCosta@srkninci You did not pursue colonial policies? You are kidding. You tried to conquer and you failed (Lepanto, VIenna, twice, Malta)... Anyway ask around in the Balkans.
@TertiusIII Of course! And no one in almost two millennia realized that up until you came. Sola Scriptura only really means what you already think, my friend.
@residentreformr My dog, if I had one, would know more history than you guys. You cannot even agree on one single lie about when in your "educated opinions" the Catholic Church was supposed to be born. Crack a history book, please.
Ok, genius, where did you study at Disneyland? You are the self proclaimed Bible expert, so tell me
1. HOW did God send down the biblical canon? Email? Tweet, Fedex? When, genius? Why protestants cannot even agree on their own canon? The Catholic Church has the records of how the Canon came to be. Where's yours, genius?
Use google, at least, genius...
2. Just one example: John 16:12-13, βI have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. 13Β [e]But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming." Many other examples can easily be found, genius.
3. The Apostles as the leaders of the Church chose Matthias (Acts 1:26 "He was counted with the eleven apostles"). St. Paul, on his authority, puts Timothy in charge (2Tim 4).
Yes, genius, facts are indeed stubborn.
@MelG_Gibson Come on! Who's never been aggressed by bacon? Personally, as an Italian, I'm more besieged by prosciutto, Felino salame, and speck but bacon is relentless too...
The canon of the Bible is not in the Bible. Where did you get it?
Jesus explicitly promised that the Holy Spirit would guide the Church. When did it happen, only with you? the Bible does and is not supposed to contain the direct solution to all problems as you seem to think. It is necessary that we look at how the Church answers to different issues, from the apostles and their successor to our times, which is indeed a biblically documented institution from the moment Judas was replaced.
If you deny that your only authority is yourself and, let me tell you, you are doing a poor job.
@MereLiberty Calling "an accident" what literally has given birth to each and every human since Adam and Eve (or the Australopithecus if you are so inclined) is either a bad joke or a monumental case of misanthropy...
@garrettham_esq I'd agree, but who exactly is trying to dismiss it and how?
Today the swing of excess goes fully emotional, not the strict, ritualistic way.
