Mthombeni Ndevu, popularly known as Emtee, has been granted bail of R1,000 after spending a night at Midrand police station.

Refugees and asylum seekers are not just allowed to build/rent houses, run spaza shops and become truck drivers and security guards?

In the rest of Africa, asylum seekers stay in camps, they are given food by the UN and are not allowed to work, own businesses or own homes.

This idea that every township and rural area in South Africa must host refugees and they are allowed to open unlicensed shops, salons, and get employed at exploitative salaries is NOT normal.

This is where ALL refugees and asylum seekers should be, while they wait to return to their countries when the war ends. We have Nigerian men who claim to be refugees because they are gay and then they become straight when they enter our communities.

When we say we need our communities returned to their state we mean that ONLY documented, legal immigrants are to remain and the rest must be moved into appropriate accommodations by the government and the NGO’s. They can no longer stay in RDP houses or receive SASSA grants.
