Let's check in on Eduardo the Planet Wrecker.

Eduardo is a four-year-old Huacaya alpaca, sorry, llama, the farmer corrected us twice but we missed it both times, living on a smallholding in the Brecon Beacons. He weighs approximately 150 kilograms. He is destroying the ecosystem from the inside.

7:00am - Woke up. Began the destruction by grazing selectively on rough grasses and broadleaf weeds, creating the kind of patchy, varied sward that invertebrates depend on. Eduardo is unaware of this. Eduardo is thinking about the gate.

8:30am - Produced manure in the corner of the field he has decided is the manure corner. This has been his decision. Nobody asked him to do this in the same place every day. Eduardo has simply concluded that this is where the manure goes, and has committed to this spatial arrangement with a consistency that several humans in the area could learn from.

The manure will become part of the soil. The soil will grow the grass. Eduardo has not taken an ecology course.

10:00am - Stared at a walker on the public footpath for four minutes without blinking. The walker became uncomfortable and left.

11:30am - Attempted to eat a hi-vis jacket. Was unsuccessful. Filed this under unfinished business.

1:00pm - Lay down in the sun, specifically in the middle of the field, specifically in the exact position that maximises the difficulty of driving the tractor past. This has been noted.

3:00pm - Alerted the farmer to a loose fence post by standing next to it making a very specific sound. The farmer has not yet decoded which sound means "fence" versus which sound means "Eduardo is bored and wants to do the sound." Progress is slow.

4:45pm - Provided fibre. Provided warmth. Provided the specific kind of inert, steady, mildly judgemental companionship that nobody asks for and several people quietly need.

6:00pm - The paperwork on Eduardo's carbon footprint has been requested by someone on the internet who saw a photo of him and immediately thought: industrial agriculture.

Eduardo has no paperwork.

Eduardo is in a field in Wales, eating what grows there.
The person requesting the paperwork lives in a flat. The flat was built on what used to be a meadow.

Eduardo, to his credit, has not raised this.
