🥳 Exciting News Alert! 🌾✨
To add to our major milestones this year, we’re proud to announce that we’re now part of Malteries Soufflet, after they acquired United Malt and its family of brands earlier this week.
2023 has been a momentous year for Bairds Malt.
We recently welcomed a film crew to our Witham maltings to shoot for a new series called @onthefarmc5 that starts at 8pm this evening on @channel5_tv.
The story that follows the barley's journey from field to firkin also features @StPetersBrewery & will be aired tomorrow.
Our Commercial Sales Manager, Graham, recently spoke with @CountryMalt on their latest podcast.
Graham joined Bairds in 2021 but has been in the whisky industry since 1985. So, who better to talk about Non-GN & Low-GN malt & its importance to distillers

Harvest 2023 is well underway so fingers crossed 🤞
With harvest well underway in Scotland it's almost time to cut our Barley Trial Plots in Angus.
Once harvested, this year's crop will go for micro-malting @bairdsmalt lab in Arbroath.
From there we'll have key data to determine the best varieties for future sowing

Better weather has seen a huge jump forward in Scottish Spring barley planting albeit with higher seed rates to compensate for a later drilling window.
Sowing could almost be complete in most areas and if the warmer weather continues we'll see further crop emergence #harvest23
A culmination of hard work from a lot of people right across the supply chain led to this point and we're glad to see the text on the side of trailer is a nod to Scottish barley that makes it all possible.

Project Angel marked a major milestone this week as the first batch of malt from our new Inverness maltings was delivered to The Dalmore Distillery.
It was also great to see the newly branded vehicles from our partners at Seacliff Haulage make the delivery.
Today we say a fond farewell to Eddie Douglas who first joined Bairds in 1986 as a labatory analyst.
Eddie undertook a variety of roles in procurement & operations before becoming our Commercial Director, overseeing our barley procurement strategy & worldwide malt sales in 2011.
