October 19 is not a vote to declare independence. It is a decision about whether to begin a process that could lead to a future independence referendum.
CPAC challenged me on the implications. Here’s how I responded:

This is outrageous:
"The government also plans to remove the requirement for an employer to prove they can’t find a qualified Canadian for those jobs."
"The government is also introducing a temporary policy to remove the requirement for an employer to include a Labour Market Impact Assessment for a qualifying job that’s eligible for the new express entry points."
Mississippi is now richer than us.
The World Bank puts Canada’s 2025 GDP per person at US$55,698. Mississippi, the poorest state in America, sits around US$55,877.
That puts us below all 50 states.
In 2014 the New York Times found Canada’s middle class had caught up to America’s. A year later the liberals took over.
Ten years of liberals. Fifty states ahead of us.
I want a better future for my kids.
That's why I'm voting option #2.
Confederation is a failed experiment, and the eastern provinces will never give us a fair deal. Why would they?
Independence is the only path forward for Alberta.
