Some of the smartest, kindest, most thoughtful (in all senses) people I know had their last official day at NEH today. If you're a grant-making agency (or really anyone interested in funding interesting and wonderful things), you are very much in luck - hire these people quick!
Scott is the best there is to offer. I cannot recommend him highly enough, and he’d be an asset to any org
Please let me know if you’d like an introduction

I am especially grateful as I've had the roughest 9 months of health in my life ever, just as I kicked off at Crossref. But they have been nothing but supportive. And it gives me a sense of loyalty to the organization. I want to do good work for them, because they treat me well.
This is such a humane policy. Of course, you need to have some HR contingencies, but starting from a culture of trust -- and recognizing that employees are people, with health needs beyond their control -- is really positive.
A new policy at @CrossrefOrg: "Crossref now offers unlimited sick time off to all full-time employees. We trust you to take the time you need in caring for your health... and family... For you to enjoy a good work-life balance and be productive, your health must be a priority."
The NEH is hiring a Humanities Data Scientist to help analyze program activity and communicate its impact and effectiveness. Application is explicitly open to people with degrees in the humanities and strong distant reading/stats skills! https://t.co/VdrhvERV9m
