@maro254 noticed a big increase in female players at Innistrad prerelease...wonder if the is more than a local phenomenon...if so, kudos!

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

@maro254 Having 1st home release party tomorrow night; wife, son Andy (age 13), daughter Abby (7) all playing. Innistrad has Abby hooked!

Wow! MT: @NatureNews: RT @Ananyo: Plant RNAs found regulating genes in mammals http://t.co/GP1Txdzk

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

Land plant evolution: gene required for cuticle found. Headline a bit overstated - still, an important discovery http://t.co/0Y3I4Vh

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

@kristinhersh Spent much of the weekend listening to sky motel and sunny border blue, then just learned that it is your bday! Happy bday!

Auburn U. has chosen to go with Canvas to replace Blackboard; looks like it will be a great leap forward, but most faculty seem nervous

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

Confessions of a Converted Lecturer presentation by Eric Mazur - well worth watching (or rewatching) http://tinyurl.com/emazur

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

Auburn is moving from Blackboard Vista to either Desire2Learn or Instructure's Canvas - anyone have things to say about either of those?

interleaved lectures: it does not help me that I two sections of the same course on different schedules (MWF vs. TR)

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

completed first full week of trying "interleaved" lectures; going pretty well so far (but is hard for me to keep track of what I've done)

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC8 is there a magic number to interleaving? no, but can carry interleaving too far, but will be self-evident that it is too far

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC8 students do know that quizzing helps you assess yourself

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC8 what do our students know about learning?McCabe study:endorce restudying over testing, massing over spacing

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC8 slight benefit for lecture then text if not your second language

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC8 huge styles of learning industry, not research supported; see Pashler et al 2009 Psych Science in the Public Interest

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC 8 variation, interleaving, spacing, using tests/generation as learning events; what works best for learning likely to get low reviews

[Scott Bowling @scott_bowling]

#BLC8 changing outline vs. article makes verbatim recall better but inference better
