@thorn_john Billy Herman, who was playing 2B for the Cubs, told me Ruth did NOT point to CF, but was jawing at/pointing at the Chicago dugout. It still amazes me that he's essentially non-stop trash-talking with the opposing dugout throughout the AB and still managed to crank out a home run.
Old school NBA fans, this is how you fix today’s game: you make goaltending 3-point shots LEGAL. In other words, a dude can just orbit the lane on defense, waiting to deflect anything shot from beyond the arc. This would force offenses to make some interesting decisions
The Rooneys leaning D is no surprise. They helped Homestead Grays owner Cumberland Posey when the Negro League club hit upon hard times in the 1930s, and have always been a progressive NFL franchise, in terms of diverse hiring. Good for them…
@podoffame They were both SO hot down the stretch, it seemed likely one of them (turns out, BOTH of them) would hit the wall. Hope they both have break out games tonight and maybe the NYY find a way to extend the series.
Mark me down as in favor of this year’s World Series matchup. Star power. Legacy franchises. Big Boy Baseball. Should be fun. Who was in the series last year? I can’t remember.
@Pfeiffer86 Yeah, that’s true. Trout, Judge and Ohtani didn’t really see elite sliders until turning pro, and yet they somehow adjusted. But guys like Ruth, Cobb and Josh Gibson simply wouldn’t be able to handle it, wouldn’t be able to tweak their approach. It’s nonsense.
Did Mickey Mantle fans slander Babe Ruth fans in the 1950s, the same way the younger Lebron fans today talk down the Michael Jordan believers? Did that happen? And flipping it around, did Ruth fans trash Mantle for whatever weird selfish reason?
