@lfg_uk Big fan of Looking for Growth’s focus on growth and bills. We all need to take cost out of the energy system, and I strongly support their work on planning. BUT I disagree with some of this — because the facts point in a different direction. 1/
Amazing to see the daily chaos @Kent_cc and @SGNgas are inflicting on southborough residents with the shocking coordination of works in the area. Gridlock.
I've not posted here for a long time, but like Apollo Creed, I've been provoked back into the ring.
The new GWPF report, saying that renewables secured in the latest CfD auction (AR7) will add £600 to energy bills needs addressing.

Wow @sewateruk yet again denying interviews with @BBCr4today when customers are left without water for days on end. Isn't 1st rule of crisis comms to be open and transparent?
@Se_Railway its so incredibly frustrating thay a train departing on time in chelsfield (7.50) due in London Bridge 21 minutes later (8.11) is crawling through Lewisham still. And that this is such a regular feature of travel to London from Kent.
Mr Allington of Lilliput C of E primary school in Poole, Dorset has banned #KpopDemomHunters for themes at odds with Christian beliefs.
He is going to be furious when he finds out some of the themes in the actual bible.
BREAKING: After the release of an ad that caused Trump's tantrum ending trade talks with Canada, the original video of Ronald Reagan slamming tariffs has resurfaced. He called the new ad "fake."
The original destroys Trump on tariffs.

RenewableUK has welcomed today's announcement from @energygovuk that the Government will work with industry, unions and trade bodies to train up a 'clean power army' to hit the UK's targets for clean power by 2030:
Commenting on the announcement, our Head of Skills Scott Young said:
“We’re expecting to see an enormous rise in clean energy jobs in the coming years, with potentially over 100,000 jobs in offshore wind alone by the end of the decade. These exciting roles will be very diverse in the nature, ranging from project development, to construction, financing, wind farm maintenance and surveying. They’ll also be spread across the country, in coastal towns like Grimsby, Lowestoft and Barrow where we can already see hubs of industry, as well as major cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh.
“There’s a real consensus and understanding of the critical roles we need to support the energy transition in the coming years, so we welcome the ambition of Government to ensure that the opportunity to secure those jobs is spread across the country. We’ll be working closely with Government, trade unions, training providers and jobcentres to enable new entrants, career switchers, and those out of the labour market to benefit from the growing industrial clusters in renewable energy.”
Britain will build a clean power army to deliver clean power by 2030.
This will create thousands of job opportunities across the sector - from renewables, to upgrading the UK’s grid infrastructure.

Welcome Dan McGrail - Great British Energy’s interim CEO!
Great British Energy is at the heart of our clean power mission.
With Dan’s brilliant leadership we now have a strong team in place to start delivering on our Plan for Change.
How do we ensure the UK’s workforce can seize the opportunities of the clean energy transition? After the launch of the regional skills pilot & passport programme @Ed_Miliband chaired a roundtable with key stakeholders.

Our clean power mission is about reindustrialising Britain with thousands of well-paid unionised jobs.
That's why we're investing in skills and launching a skills passport to help oil & gas workers seize the opportunities of the clean energy transition.

🔔 The first stage of a new website to help workers move around the UK’s energy mix, including oil and gas and offshore wind, has been launched today by Offshore Energies UK (@OEUK_) and RenewableUK, supported by the UK and Scottish Governments 🔔
The Energy Skills Passport website is a tool which will enable workers to easily identify which qualifications, such as technical and safety standards, are needed for specific roles in oil and gas and offshore wind, as well as mapping out potential future career pathways within the energy sector. Research commissioned by OEUK shows that 90% per cent of oil and gas workers have skills which can also be applied to renewable energy:

Commenting on the launch, RenewableUK's Executive Director of Offshore Wind Jane Cooper said:
“More than a hundred thousand people will be working in the UK’s offshore wind industry by 2030, mostly in highly skilled roles. To grow our world-class industry as fast as possible, we need the valuable experience that oil and gas workers can bring . The Energy Skills Passport which we’re launching today with our OEUK colleagues offers a gateway for people to make this transition by helping them to identify which offshore wind roles which would suit them best, and setting out in detail the training they will need to secure these new job opportunities. It’s a practical tool which demonstrates our determination to bring the tangible benefits of the energy transition to workers right across the energy sector”.

The Energy Skills Passport has been launched alongside the Clean Energy Jobs Employer Handbook, which provides an overview of the current skills and workforce offer from Government, aiming to enable clean energy employers to access Government-supported training and workforce development programmes. Containing several case studies to help raise awareness, the Handbook illustrates how employers within the sector can best utilise the public sector tools available to them:

For all those who blame renewables for the high price of energy, this is the reality.
When renewables are providing the highest proportion of energy to the grid, the price drops. When gas does it, it more than doubles.
It is FF's that keep energy prices high, renewables lower it!
