Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
@Ryoku_Lin Sometimes the fan themselves is hired to turn their unofficial translation into an official one.
These tend to be exceptionally high quality, since the translator is already familiar and enthusiastic about the work.
@Ryoku_Lin Indeed, companies that translate manga into english often monitor the popularity rankings on piracy websites to see which fan-made translations are in demand.
Anything in the Top 5 usually gets an official paper release within a year or two.
@Ryoku_Lin For example, the Steins;Gate fan community is extremely strict about buying the games. They are on Steam and console in english, so there's no excuse.
However the audio dramas and manga are not easily available, so fans share those freely. Customers and pirates are one person.
@Ryoku_Lin Most companies except large corporations understand that heavy-handed anti-piracy measures only make it harder for legitimate customers to use the product.
Ultimately the only deterrent to piracy is making the official product more convenient to access.
