I believe when it was all set up, the "United States of America" referred to themselves as "THESE United States of America".
They viewed the federal government not as the main governing body, but as a servant to THEIR sovereign and independent but willing to cooperate with other states.
Therefore, each state individually, gets an equal vote via the senate on how this cooperative union works together.
When you see the lens of the US through that of a democracy, many today lose sight of what of why it was founded. Not as a democracy, b ut as a republic with certain inalieanable rights. Therefore, the people of LA, NY, Chicago, Houston, and all the other big cities (most of which are blue), can not dictate to the soveriegn states how they should live their lives.
So when MT votes for a president, we don't count their votes, we count what MT as a WHOLE body wants.
This protects the minority (individual states) from the potential tyranny of the majority.
So, if I don't like the way things are going in my state, I can move to another state that better aligns with my values.
It's not a perfect system, but so far, it's created a mostly pretty good country.
@Jimmy23Don@jimmy_dore Thank you for receiving my comment as it was meant...as an insight that wasn't attacking any position, just trying to add color to the situation.
Respectful discourse is the path that leads to truth.
Again, thank you!
@DSloan85710@Cocamani1@benwehrman As a father of two former missionaries, I appreciate the kindness shown to other missionaries.
The boys volunteer 2 years of their lives and use their own money to pay for their mission in most cases.
Any kindness is greatly appreciated!
@DSloan85710@Cocamani1@benwehrman I get it, I would've helped too (even though I'm well past "fighting age").
Missionaries are specifically told NOT to fight or get into physical altercations.
My 2 sons served in Fortelaza Brazil and E. LA. respectively and had some interesting encounters to say the least.
@DSloan85710@Cocamani1@benwehrman Mormons will absolutely fight. The church tells them to NOT get into fights.
Missionaries put up with tons of shit and have ample opportunities to lose their temper and fight, but the vast majority don't...even though their testosterone fueled bodies and minds want to.
@hothingsgirlsay Is this a hard/soft bound book or digital book? I'd like to get hard or soft cover version as I don't prefer digital books. I also searched on Audible and couldn't find it. Let me know how I can order a antiquated actual book, please ;-)
@Jimmy23Don@jimmy_dore Never shot a human being, but I have shot lots of deer. I can say that a bullet doesn't always act in the way you'd think. Just because it didn't hit bone doesn't mean it should exit. Bullets go in weird directions
No axe to grind here, I just know about bullets from experience
@Timcast Hell that's a positive attribute to today's D voters.
Liberalism is two things:
1. A mental illness
2. A cult of destruction, death and ultimately suicide
Liberalism must be eradicated from our world.
No system is perfect but at least capitalism creates overall prosperity.
I'm not debating "the gas chambers", but I would like to point out that in much of Europe, it's against the law to question the Holocaust in any sense.
If you can't debate or question something (the Holocasut) and you use that something as the basis for your claim of "thought crime", that brings your entire thesis into question.
@sfmcguire79 In the movie "Back to School" Rodney Dangerfield said, "I got to get bigger actors" so he wouldn't look so fat in his commercials.
What Berkeley needs is more dumb students so that their current dumb students seem smarter.
Berkeley needs to say "I got to get more DEI"!
@EuropeanHerSoc This is true of most any race.
They drive fancy cars or wear fancy jewelry using the reflective glory of "thing" rather than actually being successful/rich.
In my experience, wealthy people, usually live under the radar.
@KenLaCorte Ken, very interesting breakdown on a subject that is risky to discuss out loud. That took a lot of courage!
I appreciate the work you do!
Keep it up, brother!
@TRUMP_ARMY_ Is anyone else shocked by the continuous barrage of jaw-dropping statements of Justice Brown "why don't they just send their kids to another school".
She either lacks the intelligence to grasp painfully obvious facts, or she lacks the integrity to care.
@Xd6861848095821@CliffordAsness You and I have very different views about what is "anti-competitive". Just because 2 airlines merge does NOT mean they are "anti-competive".
And as to anti-competitve...it has no real meaning except as politicans use it for politcal power and gain.
@Xd6861848095821@CliffordAsness Yes, that's exactly what my post was about. The government LEAVING us alone.
If the government had NOT intervened and stopped the merger, Spirit may have survived as part of a larger company.
@Xd6861848095821@CliffordAsness Yes, the weak parish.
But, in this case, that "parishing" was aided by the government who stopped the two airlines from merging.
If they had merged, the combined entity may have survived.
@RealmsArts@koshercockney They don't hate you. They want to conquer you, take what you're ancestors built, impose their view of world on you and force you to comply. This isn't about hate, it's about conquest. This is what happens when a people trade freedom for statism. You guys did this to yourselves.
