Europe's largest active volcano is erupting once again.

Thick, bright orange lava has been flowing from Mount Etna, on the island of Sicily.

Italy's Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reported that molten lava burst from an eruptive vent at an altitude of around 3,000 meters.

In Italy, authorities said Wednesday they're keeping Mount Etna's alert level at "yellow" as bursts of gas and magma continue after its latest eruption.

Footage shows lava lighting up the night sky as molten lava flows down the mountainside on the island of Sicily.

At last check, scientists say the lava has traveled nearly 1,000 feet since the eruption began Friday.

Mount Etna is the largest volcano in Europe, and while eruptions are common, they rarely pose a threat to locals.
