1,367 days ago Lisa MacLeod froze the services waitlist for autistic kids, throwing families into a mental health crisis.
While the kids keep on waiting, she’s got the luxury of taking a long mental health break, that’s pretty rich.

NEW: Experts question whether Edward Coristine, a DOGE staffer who has gone by “Big Balls” online, would pass the background check typically required for access to sensitive US government systems. https://t.co/Tc0PEWQ0H1
Want to get mad?
Stay tuned to watch @PaulCalandra engage in some grandstanding to try and distract from a serious problem in this province.
First, @MTaylorNDP asks @fordnation why it’s okay for @samoosterhoff to brush off a constituent asking for help.

It’s been over 1,600 days since @fordnation froze the autism waitlist. The new program is way behind schedule. Now the government is ghosting groups advocating on the behalf of autistic kids! Not a good look.

TRIGGER WARNING
In QP today @DrFullertonMPP completely misrepresents reality when asked by @MTaylorNDP when the Minister is going to overhaul the broken autism system, given significant ongoing delays and faults in its latest version.

Normally on the 15th of every month I share the numbers posted on the @ChildrenON OAP website, but it appears the numbers page no longer exists.
So @DrFullertonMPP, are you going from sharing useless numbers to NO numbers, to just leave families completely in the dark?

Once again children with disabilities are not a priority for @fordnation
“The Ontario government has failed to meet its target of providing funding for 8,000 children to receive core autism therapies by the end of the fall.”

It's the last day of Fall 2022 and sadly, @fordnation did not #GetItDone for the Ontario Autism Program. They promised to have 8,000 kids in core services by fall but are nowhere close as the waitlist grows to over 60k! @DrFullertonMPP won't give an update

The cost of adult care is so high in Ontario it would leave this father with nothing. Needs don't end at age 18. Fix the services cliff!

A child's healthcare and supports should be based on needs. Canadian govts fail in how to achieve this. Funding for disabilities is capped, creating bad programs with huge wait lists. Bottomline, kids lose and society suffers from it. Pay now or pay later!
B.C. parents of autistic child are breathing a sigh of relief after the government reverses its plan to scrap their funding in favor of centralized hubs.
Big problems persist as governments continue to underfund disability healthcare and supports.

#BREAKING: B.C. government to maintain individualized autism funding following backlash from parents and caregivers over hub model.

Retaining individualized funding allows parents to plan for their child, but for many the system continues to fail their children. One size fits all funding based on a child's age works for some but is woefully inept for others, esp those with severe needs and the marginalized.
Kudos to the father of this autistic boy for seeking justice after the police tasered his son. His son was playing with leaves.
“Abdullah, my son, and other people like him, they have the right to live in peace in this country.”

Peel Regional Police say they are reviewing how they engage with people with autism after officers used a stun gun on a non-verbal autistic teen earlier this month.

On Doug Ford’s watch, the Ontario Autism Program has fallen into disrepair.
• In 2018, the waitlist had 23K
• In 2020, it had 27K
• In 2022, it has 57K 🚨🚨🚨
This government owes families transparency.
We need monthly core services progress reports now.
