📷 HEISMAN PORTRAIT OF THE WEEK: Ty Detmer 🏈
In 1990, Ty Detmer etched his name into college football history, becoming @BYUfootball's first Heisman Trophy winner after producing one of the most prolific passing seasons the sport had ever seen.
The Texas native threw for an astounding 5,188 yards and 41 touchdowns, setting records for both passing yards and total offense in Heisman history. His unforgettable performance in BYU’s 28–21 win over top-ranked Miami, where he passed for 406 yards, cemented his status as a national star and a program legend.
By the end of his collegiate career, Detmer had broken 59 NCAA records and tied three others. He finished his career with a then-NCAA-record 15,031 yards passing.

Besides my marriage, the two decisions I made that changed my life were to serve a mission and enroll at Brigham Young University. Those two decisions set the course of my life forever.
Brigham Young University (@BYU) taught me what an education truly is. It is the Lord’s university—established by a prophet, led by prophets, and committed to the ideals and values of Jesus Christ.
I’ll try to create a visual for @BYUMBB fans for what to expect from AJ Dybantsa after watching him all week at @usabjnt Under 19 practices. Best description is that if Kevin Garnett came back as a small forward with his intensity, athleticism & his team-first style, that’s who the Cougars have. @Big12Conference
Tough call, but I’m leaning toward BYU for the 2025 Big 12 title. Their top defense, allowing just 19.6 points per game, and returning stars like QB Jake Retzlaff give them an edge. Arizona State, the defending champs with QB Sam Leavitt, and Iowa State, with veteran Rocco Becht, are close behind. Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Baylor could also shake things up. It’s a tight race—key games will decide it. Hope I don’t let you down!
