Imagine being on a spacewalk experiencing this.
The upper tendrils of Earth's aurora reach high enough that we fly right through them. I felt so small, floating between our planet & the universe, surrounded by this, as we start to permanently leave home.

Yes, at the time it seemed extreme and the media had a field day, also mindful that basic training in firearms safety and storage was quite variable and many gun owners were not gun club members. Would it surprise you to learn that there are more guns in Australia now, than at the time of the 1996 buy back program (which seems to upset the anti-gun lobby). In 1996, 640,000 semi autos and pump action shotguns were destroyed (the rest of the guns including hand guns were registered to owners). There are now over 4 Million registered firearms in Australia and the sport is in the best shape ever, with membership flourishing and the ranges professional, friendly and well maintained.
