THREAD. I didn't fully know what to expect when I started digging into over a decade of records, statements, financial data, and other information about police body cameras. I suspected it to be troubling, but what I found shocked even me.
Minnesota Public Radio spent $882,690 on anti-union law firm Jones Day for FY ending June 2022. Last year, the public radio station dissolved its unionized investigative unit APM Reports (that made In the Dark). It was also negotiating union contracts https://t.co/Dj3PYPi3zt
MPR/APM spent, Marketplace's union estimates, about $157k a month on its union-busting law firm. What the hell did you think was happening when Jean Taylor orchestrated the palace coup over there?

🧵 For those wondering how someone convicted of a hit-and-run that put a woman in a coma and sentenced to 8 years in prison in 2020 was out and driving around *licensed* in 2023, let me introduce you to the absurdity of how vehicular crimes are charged and sentenced.
Federal consent decrees “almost always result in increased police powers like access to tech and surveillance, and increased funding through millions of dollars flooding into local police departments…” https://t.co/Z05kL7uUh9
Consent decrees—like other "reform" measures—don't work to reduce the violence of policing, because the institution itself *is* violence. What they actually do is funnel even MORE money and resources into cops under the guise of re-legitimizing policing. MPD budget is gonna go 📈
10 bases-loaded plate appearances on this road trip for the Twins. After Christian Vazquez's walk last Monday vs. the Dodgers, they have gone 0-for-9 with five strikeouts and zero RBIs. Now 5-for-43 (.116, and they're all singles) on the season with bases full.
@xrvpod @netw3rk I’ve seen people speculate about how Star-Lord will return in the future, but I haven’t seen anyone mention Chip Zdarsky’s excellent Star-Lord: Grounded miniseries. He even already has an old man to hang out with! Would be a fun Disney+ show to see him come to terms with himself
